I think the vast majority of intown people consider "downtown" to stop pretty sharply at the I85/75 connector. Anything east of it is O4W, to the beltline; Anything east of that is Inman Park. (until you hit candler park. and so on.)
Neighborhoods are subjective, unless you're talking about NPU borders and which flags are in the windows, so it's probably pointless to discuss it further. Meanwhile, you seem to have forgotten all about Bedford-Pine aka 4th Ward West.

YES this is so beautiful and would be awesome for Atlanta but unfortunately things like that are only possible in China not in USA any more. I hope I'm wrong.

I was responding to this comment: "I don't consider Midtown to be a neighborhood...". Midtown is definitely a neighborhood, and anyone from Atlanta should probably not make that comment. Historic Midtown is a wonderful neighborhood comparable to any other and shouldn't be overlooked.

Took these today.

Center for Civil and Human Rights:

Spring Street Student Housing:

This will fill this spot out nicely.

The core and some structure is starting to rise.

And a bonus development on Tech campus. The real reason I was out is I wanted to see it, haha.

The majestic ech Tower:

It came from this page: http://www.midtownatl.com/business/development-tour

Sooo frustrating when these tiny images float around! I can't tell what any of that actually is

This is the (new) 15th Street elevation. It looks like there might be some retail on Spring (unless that's only to conceal the garage), and perhaps on 15th too.

Thanks a lot for the link. Unfortunately there's only going to be 3400 sf of retail in this one according to that link. Compare that to Skyhouse Midtown at 8400 sf. I imagine most if not all of the retail will aim itself toward West Peachtree, although I hope like you that we get some on another street.

Looks like the typical 30 story tower going up these days...not that excited, but good to see the spot being developed on.

the first presentation they did had the garage backing up to spring with very small retail spaces fronting spring. there will be some retail fronting west peachtree, but the building is a giant "L" from above, with the parking deck forming the vertical part of the L. there will only be a little bit of the building actually fronting west peachtree; most of it is set back from west peachtree, where the curb cut is. i think they are leaving that gap so they can use that part of the lot later, à la viewpoint.

the view you're looking at in the rendering is looking north from the future 15th street, which is actually where most of the active use will be.

That is astounding.

Also what is the Spring Street Student Housing going to look like and how tall? Thanks

The multimodel terminal video is about as fanciful and unrealistic as one can get. I would estimate the probability of anything remotely like this as close to 0 in the lifetime of anyone who is now viewing skyscraperpage.

Sadly I agree. I was just going to post something very similar but you beat me to it.

Interesting, thanks for the info. This is definitely better than I expected with only 3400 sf of retail. Great news.

I think the reason they that they aren't fronting much of West Peachtree may be because that northern lot belongs to Arts Center Tower? I know their retail spaces use it. I really wanna see a site plan of this one. The execution of these developments around the Marta stations I feel is very important long term.

It'd be great if you could quote all of what I said, which meant something else entirely Anyone quoting my comment should probably not quote just part of my comment. Historic Midtown is a neighborhood. My point is that the greater Midtown area is something larger than a neighborhood.

Finally a rendering of the Amli residential tower. I actually like it. Didn't I read that there is soil testing going on at the site? The extension of 15th Street will be a real benefit to the area.

Yes, someone said there was. I have a feeling this will start soon, but with the site being such a steep grade and having an existing parking lot it's probably going to require a lot of prep before the tower starts going up. I pass by there pretty frequently so if I see any activity I'll be sure to post about it.
