Nice work. Did you place the CCH on the parking lot behind the Zion's Bank on Main and 100 S? Very unlikely it would go there ( not a bad place ) but one of the few things we know is that it'll go along side the Salt Palace most likely the block 67.

I assumed it would be facing the entrance to the Salt Palace on Arrow Press Square rather than the loading decks on the back. It's set a little too far back, but I just copied one of the Hyatt Towers in San Diego because it has 850 units in that tower.

Block 67 is already occupied by the Multi-Ethnic highrise, which houses mostly senior citizens, as well as other low income housing units on southwest corner of the block. Point being, there could be initial problems like we saw with Block 57, which eventually became Gallivan. The post office and Utah Workforce Services also lease a building there, but I don't think that would be a problem.

I have been following this forum for some time now and have really enjoyed the updates and opinions you have shared. I have recently been thinking about utilizing Regent street more effectively and came across this public art installation in Spain. I really liked it and thought that an installation similar to this between the CCC and the Gallivan Center would increase the interest people would have to leave the CCC and make that walk down to Gallivan. Perhaps this would lead to further exploration around that block. I know that other things would have to happen on that street (UPAC, new retail, street vendors?) to make it truly successful, but perhaps something like this would encourage this type of investment.

One last note: The installation seems temporary but that may not be a bad thing. Perhaps there could be a new installation for each season (for example: Chinese lanterns for the winter?) to keep interest. Look forward to your thoughts.

I think this is a great idea, but I think it requires just a little bit more...i.e. have vendors along Regent as well during the decoration to make it more than just an empty alley with an installation above it. It would also be cool if some of the installations related to the big shows that were coming into town.

I posted on page 263 the preliminary plan for the CCH, which is three buildings. Non of which are tall...

I know some people who have do some work on the concept.

However we all know this plan could change too. But I doubt we will get anything over 25 floors...

Okay, 111, 145, and CCH (new tallest)...
I'm thinking rather than block 67, it could go north of the Salt Palace in that empty parking lot. And the hotel, a Hyatt of course, needs more of a Utah theme, one that will offend NO ONE

Seems more reasonable to me. If you do a wikipedia search of 1000-room convention hotels, most of them top out in the 360 foot range. And the majority are groups of lower (and more classy looking) towers.

That parking lot might work. But from I-15, a large tower would block views of the lower end of the skyline. Which is a little lame. I'm all for the RWP site.

That parking lot wouldn't work, as it is owned by the LDS church, who have plans to put a DT BYU campus on that block.

The parcel immediately west of the Plaza hotel is the only lot to the north that has a chance, but even that would require a skybridge across south temple that would obstruct valued temple views.

I like this idea as well. A classy/seasonal art installation, access to main street, Upac, retail, cafes, and making the walker center and regent garages "living" garages (with vines, and art), would transform that street into a very interesting pedestrian thoroughfare.

If the Narrows @ Arrowpress Square ever came to fruition as well, this section of the CBD would become very very charming, vibrant, and interesting.

Nope, it looks like Bob_The_Builder and SLC_Projects are right. It will go on block 67, behind the Salt Palace, since the Royal Wood Office Plaza, which is being leased by Utah Workforce Services and the post office, is on the market.

That ugly pink lowrise, the multi-ethnic highrise, is low income senior citizen housing. It was rehabbed in 2008 and I don't see it going anywhere without a big public outcry.

So it looks like probably three midrises in the 10 - 20 story range, surrounding the multi-ethnic highrise and its parking lot. I'm referencing Bob's stuff on page 263. Honestly, it looks better than a huge tower...especially that far over on the west side of downtown.

To my knowledge, no developer, no site, and no design has been chosen. Nothing against Bob, but some of us remember another bogus proposal that he had insider knowledge and drawings for.

It's not what I would want (page 263) either. I think they should demo the Marriott hotel at city creek and build a new Marriott there that is half as wide as the existing; then go up 40 floors. Then have a sky bridge from the hotel over to street and curve into the convention center.

Just so I don't have to keep going back and search for it. It kinda reminds me of the Cosmopolitam/Madarin/Aria complex in Las Vegas...but not as cool. Hope if it is several buildings, they go BOLD!!!! with the designs
