I like this design so much better than the one proposed several years ago. I think I will be great for density...especially if they also start work on the one a block south on the east side of the street. With those bars on 200 south...It is going to be pretty happening.

I hope this isn't off topic, but my professor in one of my classes today asked us in an open discussion, "in your own opinion what five cities are the most important in Utah?" He wanted us to consider, education, government, transportation, tourism, as well as a few others. My five cities, in no particular order were Provo, St. George, SLC, Park City, and Moab.

With that, I'm curious to what some of your guy's five cities would be...

This is why I wish the Real stadium, the baseball park, and the aquarium would have all been built downtown. That way, restaurants and bars don't have to rely on just one team or their season. Another benefit of downtown stadiums is that it allows more people to attend the games being in a more central location.

Ogden over Moab. O-Town is a major train hub and is the gateway to 2 high profile ski resorts, plus they have an Airport that almost the same as Provo's and finally Weber State is located in Ogden. I think that covers most of your considerations.

Moab has tourism and that's it. It's really isolated, in fact I think Logan would rank hire then Moab.

Years ago that building was Tracy Collins Bank and the top was very different. It was a slightly sloped roof.

In all seriousness though. I work in the Sports industry and I wanted to say that Smiths Ballpark is in a good location as fare as proximity to downtown. I think the city is to blame for the lack of development around the park. They where so hell bent on building the stadium and tearing down the old one that they forgot to think before doing. They just thought (typical Politicians) developers would come a calling without any effort on their part.

But the ball park is really about as far away from our downtown as Sports Authority stadium is to Denver's.

The ball park sits on the site of the old Dirks Stadium which was the ball park since the days of Henry VIII.

Since I'm from out of state, I think of SLC/Ogden/Provo (including Park City) as one city, so mine would be (1) SLC/Ogden/Provo (2) St. George (3) Logan (4) Richfield (5) Vernal

I would recommend not doing so. Those are really all four distinct cities, and there's a reason Ogden, Salt Lake, and Provo all have their own metropolitan areas. To lump all three (four) into one city would be false and rather useless.

My five cities:

1. Salt Lake City MSA: Business, Captial, Tourism (Temple Square, Park City)

2. Provo/Orem MSA: 70,000 College Students, Provo is a great start-up business city, even if half of them are MLM's.

3. Ogden MSA: Trains & Transportation, Hill Air Force Base, Ski Resorts

4. St George MSA: Tourism, National Parks, Growth

5. Logan MSA: Utah State University, Agriculture

5a. Vernal: Oil.

more than 5, but I felt that it was important to add the Uintah Basin's oil to the list, though I don't think it's achieved top 5 status yet. If it continues to grow, the state should focus more on connecting that region to Salt Lake... Imagine the downtown growth of SLC should some oil companies want some office space

Is this going to have a mixed use element to this project or is it strictly residential? Either way I think it looks great but I'm just curious!

Aw man! I thought it would be forever before it came here to Utah, so I have tickets for this summer in Vegas. Guess I'll have to see it twice. It'll be a good excuse to see the new theater.

Edit: It's playing at the Capitol Theatre. Duh. PAC won't be done.
