^ hahaha that's totally fine just let us know if some posts have too many airline lingos boggling the noggin. For me I don't even know what all those airports are posted in that global news picts. Bunch of bandwagoners, capitalizing on Canadian airport codes that pilots had known for decades..

I think YQU is Grand Prairie and YBA is Llyod?? I flown into some of those other airports back in the training days for X-ctry solo when I needed some hr building.

Calgary, Banff, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Med Hat.

Don't recall ever seeing #yba used for anything, ever. At least #yql saves me some space with Twitter's 140 character limit, but Banff is 2 more letters than its airport code.

I have to agree about the short code. I know many of the major airports designation but I don't know other. I admit I'm a nube when it comes to a lot in this thread but I do have a growing interest in it and it would help me understand more if I actually knew what you all where talking about. lol

Eh, I just search google whenever I see something in this thread I don't know. I've learned a lot over the last few years! I say don't hold back.

Ctrl+T (new tab), Type in airplane/airport code, Hit Enter, voila...google has told me what it is.

Another little vignette on airport short code. I am forever coming across as culturally insensitive when I discuss large cities that have changed names.

For example, I am prone to use Peking instead of Beijing because the airport code is PEK. Same goes for Mumbai, I use Bombay because the Airport code is BOM.

Yes I have also used Orchard instead of Chicago.

I like the short codes - they have helped me broaden my (limited) aviation knowledge. It's not difficult to right-click and Google search for a code you don't know.

Airliners.net has the functionality for codes to appear after you hover the mouse over them, for IATA airline and airport codes. Pretty sure that's possible with vbulletin as well.

CAA has not published any plans for June 14th Grand Opening Ceremony of runway 17L/35R yet, but static display of historic aircraft seems to be a part of it as per this CFC document.

How about an AC 788 for the day? There is only a 2 aircraft schedule commitment on June 15 for the 788 fleet and there will be 3 aircraft on the property by the 15th.

I'm gona post on Air Canada's facebook page begging them to bring one of their dreamliners to the airport for the grand opening. Fingers crossed, they seem to be ontop of their first 788 order with all these progress picts.

This is interesting.

YUL has issued a press release.... in order to "set the record straight" regarding services at YUL.

Of course, it specifically mentions Calgary.

Wow, never read anything quite like this before.

Really fascinating that they choose the period 2003 - 2013 to show its total growth... considering 2004 was the year YMX services were transferred to YUL.

I recall a 77W visiting YYC, YEG and YVR when they were introduced.

Should be a nice surprise for the folks down in Honolulu tonight as the Disney plane makes its first Hawaii run. The newer 738's generally do the Hawaii trips, (fuel efficiency and IFE related?) and WS' newest 738 delivered in December seemed available for the trip but was routed to YYZ instead of Mickey. Interesting.

The visit to YEG went directly to the AC cargo ramp and was for staff and families of staff in 2008. The airplane ferried in and ferried out to YYC then YVR.

Wow. Full damage control mode from the c-suite in Montreal. They must be having serious problems in international pitches as number 4, even though their arguments are valid. Will be interesting to see if Montreal ends up being seen as a value airline hub of sorts if there is yield bleed with the transition to Rouge.

Why is YUL so butthurt about this!? Not like a carrier is going to start up YYC services instead of YUL as a result of this "ranking" change. Though valid, that still has to be one of the most absurd press releases I've ever seen. "Montréal–Trudeau is an emphatically international airport..."

Ah yes, I was thinking more of a set revenue flights in the schedule.
