In 2012, Utah's voter turnout was 53%, and that included Mitt Romney on the ballot.

I know a lot of people who never vote because they don't think it will change anything. But I think it really would.
If all the people who think that their vote doesn't count voted, then they would make a difference.

I forgot to mention that in 2012, Utah's voter turnout was second to last in the entire nation. Hawaii had the lowest voter turnout at 51.8%.

Wow, looking at those photos it looks like crews are about half way done with tearing down the buildings. So just a little bit left with the old printing warehouse, with the building on Main and 100 south starting to come down. The Metro building, is still untouched and I'm guessing will be the last to come down. This demo is moving faster then I first thought.

Why has there never been anything built on the corner of 100 S. and Main St.? It's ridiculous the amount of large parking lots there are in downtown SLC taking up prime real estate.

I am so sick of that tiny looking Zions Bank building and parking lot taking up that great location. In a few years that area is going to be awesome with the addition of the PAC and with CCC already across the street. Is Zions Bank asking too much for a developer to buy it? Adding something there would help the density of that area so much.

I would love to see a Neiman Marcus or a Saks Fifth Avenue located there.

Maybe Zions Bank has a long term plan for development on their site that we don't yet know. I know that at one point Zions wanted to develop their own tower on that side but bought out the old Gateway Tower East and remodel it instead. Maybe once they outgrown the Zions Bank Tower they will have to develop their own tower much like what we seen at Boise.

Yeah, that's another surface lot that drives me crazy. I know the building itself is historic; I do think there would be ways to build an L-shaped tower that would be able to respect the building without overwhelming it. Consider it a design challenge.

Because yeah. That's a ridiculous place for a parking lot that large. Or at all.

The proposed Zions Bank Tower wasn't proposed on that site, it was proposed approximately where the new Harmons is located.

Just looked at it again on Google Earth...So. Much. Space.

They could build two towers, on on Main, one on 100 South, if they didn't want to do the L-shaped thing.

Sheesh.

CCH Tower idea

I think something like the original design of the Centrepoint Marriott in lexington would be ideal for our CCH and new tallest, I also LOVE LOVE the Austonian tower in Austin, TX.....so tasteful!!

Love both of those -- and yeah, I can see that Marriott being right at home in SLC.

Still bracing myself for the worst.

I like your taste SLC2GeorgetownU! The Marriott would look awesome as the new CCH... The Austonian would also be amazing right in the heart of downtown (perhaps on the infamous Carl's Jr lot lol!) They say to dream big!

Our engineer is saying 328 feet to the top of the flag pole. 249' is just to the top floor not including cupola or flagpole.

Are you talking about "Zion Social Hall Center" that was proposed back during the early 2000's? My understanding was that tower would of housed Zions Securities/ Property Reserve Inc, not Zions Bank. Zions Bank from what I heard a long time ago wanted their own tower and were thinking of placing it on 100 S. and Main Street behind/next to the old Zions Bank Building. But since no renderings ever came to light I'm guessing it was either just a rumor or they just changed their minds before moving forward.

Ok, 328 FT to top of flag pole, there you go. Now let's get a drawing going who ever wants to do it. ( not to sound too bossy. )

Looks like the 330' figure that kept popping up was pretty close. At least that mystery is now solved!

tygr, Salt Lake does have one it is the Regent. Unfortunately the Regent isn't tall enough to poke up above the other buildings around it to show off its curves better. On many occasions I point out to my wife my sadness that it was never built taller to show off its sexiness.
