The steel base for inbound guideway now reaches the column in the White Spot parking lot and curves over top of the White Spot building.

Ah, sorry, didn't catch that.

i.e. the thickness/height of the guideway's concrete box girder.

Canada Line could be thicker/taller because the trains are heavier.

For comparison, pics of the Evergreen segments posted by goodspeed Oct 16, 2013:

Sorry for the poor quality but all I had with me was my phone.

The parallel outbound section has now been added.

^ Definitely smaller than the Canada Line (heavier rotary propulsion trains) and the Millennium Line (which was basically the first application of this construction method in rapid transit, ever, anyway). Heck, with this thickness, it seems like it could be comparable to the original Expo Line guidways. I reckon the lower material costs could mean less expensive elevated guideways.

2016 Skytrain Diagrams

So when the Skytrain line opens, I realy hope Translink will hire a graphic designer and come up with a decent system map. Here are three all depicting the same service patterns:

This is my favourite - three line system. Makes branding stations easier (can be coloured coded to the line), avoids needing to rebrand Millenium Line stations as Evergreen Line (and changing the colour) and simplifies waywinding. On board announcements are simple - just "This train is for Lougheed" for example.

This one is keeping the current system but adding the Evergreen Line - will require changing all Millennium stations to Evergreen, including changing the station colour schemes to match, or leave it and confuse the public.

This one simply splits the Canada Line into two to be consistent with the current Expo and Millennium line

So what do you think?

They look great and I agree that the first one is by far the best and easiest to understand.

Cool! Thanks again for the updates dpogue and madog222! The space to put the outbound guideway above White Spot seems so tight, but I'm sure they know what they are doing. Its looking quite impressive, though it looks like the height of outbound and inbound may not be the same above White Spot (maybe I'm wrong though)

I prefer this one. Yes, people need to adjust, but the current Millenium Line system today is terrible and already confusing. For one, coming from Waterfront, the robot announcer would say "to VCC/Clarke", implying that its so far far away even though the destination is much closer. It will require a transfer, of course, but that means people actually need to *gasp* research and look up stuff.

By having the Douglas to VCC Clarke route in one line, its much more straight forward and will require less research in the part of the newbie passenger. Changing the signs is a hassle, but I'm sure by 2016, the existing signs would be so worn out and dirty, they need to be changed anyway. After all, we all know how Translink would rather spend a ton of money making things pretty and clean with their existing system rather than expanding the system further.

Plus I'm all for rebranding the existing Millenium Line from Lougheed to VCC/Clarke to Evergreen Line. The way the Millenium Line was built was such a sham which caused over a decade of suffering and grief. It was motivated purely by politics, not logical, and the Evergreen leg, now underconstruction, should have been built FIRST! So anything to lessen that awful Glen Clark legacy from being visible to the map is welcoming...

VCC-Clark was bordered on the west side by Glen Drive... I guess you're glad they didn't name it as Glen-Clark Station

No kidding! I remember there was even an editorial in the papers about that "Glen-Clark Station" way back when.

Some photos from the Evergreen Line Facebook page. I normally don't post stuff from their Facebook page but the construction area in the Andres Winery is so rarely seen.

Awesome video.
Yeah, the individual guideways won't be even with each other until maybe the last column before North Road.

Thanks.

The Facebook page just posted some new construction pics, showing an elevated guideway segment rising in Port Moody. This part is using the traditional construction method and the whole thing is so IMPRESSIVELY low-profile! The guideway integrates into the rest of the picture so well and hardly, if at all, disrupts the community.

Also @lightrail
There have been a couple new system maps focusing on just the rapid transit lines (SkyTrain, Sea Bus, B-Line) popping up at SkyTrain stations all over the system. You'll find them for sure at Broadway-City Hall's SB platform and 22nd St Station's WB platform. It looks very welll done.

Those brand new maps would be out of date already this coming April, as two new stops will be added to the 96 B-Line...

Is there still a future station through that segment?

Interesting that they used I-beams instead of the precast segmented guideway system.
Maybe it was too short a section to use the launching girder.

The side profile IS nice and slim in height/thickness, but from above, it looks wider than a precast segmented guieway would look. The rebar doesn't seem to suggest any switches, either.

The future station is located after the guideway drop down to at-grade.

So they aren't crossing the tracks over after all. Disappointing they would do the split grade thing for nothing.

The split grade is due to the existing 3rd platform at Lougheed starting on an upward incline.
