I wonder how tough it would be to get First air using YEG for a cargo base as well. There are a lot of suppliers out of here that ship to YUL and YOW to get on the 767.

When it comes to passenger count, do Canadian airports count all connecting passengers as 2 counts? For example, if one person was flying YEG-YVR-LAX-YVR-YEG would YVR get 4 counts?

Now I know, I'll be arriving on Sunday and then departing again on Tuesday. I'm not sure where my hotel is going to be. Any good vantages to see the skyline from? How fun is the LRT to explore? Anything you think should be the first thing a newbie to Edmonton should check out?

I believe they all count like that (YVR would get 2 domestic and 2 transborder pax in that scenario).

That looks like an HS 748 to me. First Air used to have a bunch of those British-made planes.

Stay at the Chateau Lacombe or at least eat/drink at their revolving resto or bar. Great vantage - likely the best in Edmonton to see what City looks like from 360 degrees. Its smack downtown and rates are reasonable. Its 3.5-4 stars. From there you can get the LRT very close, bus 100 Express to West Ed Mall, you can walk to China Town or walk around the dt core - and see where the new arena district is.

^^ Yep that looks like a Hawker. One of the workhorses of the North, Air North still flies those tin cans on their northern routes.

Yup your right, my mistake. Just checked some back issues of up here. I know I've been on one just can't remember where. 20+ years flying around the Arctic you tend to be on a few different aircraft.

Day 3 in Tamarindo Costa Rica

Easy (but long) flight from Edmonton through Panama to Liberia. Lots of Calgarians on board.. Apparently no such flight exists from YYC ? Liberia airport seems purpose built and fairly recent, just for the west coast

+35 and humid! Loving it here though.. Not sure i'd go back to Mexico after experiencing this. Rented a truck and have been exploring all the small costal communities. Why oh why can't I get a turbo diesel Toyota Hilux in Canada ???

Where are you staying?? Resort or BB or?? Are you staying in differant places given you have big wheels?

Want to get back to CR someday. Loved being able to get around so easily. Will stay at small hotel or B&B next trip. Hated the resorts, but I am not an all-inclusive person. Stayed near Arenal last time, loved the rain forest. Was truly relaxed after that trip. Maybe why a shut my business down when I got back.

ATS has had both the ground handling and customer service contracts at YEG for sometime.

I'd easily suspect the same will occur at the cities in question.

Resorting it this time... Although like Airboy we are not resort people, we haven't even eaten there... Just using it as a crash pad. Have made some condo connections and have found a few nice boutique hotels... Will be doing one of those two next time

Dropping off the truck today.. Just went up & down the coast. It's super easy to drive down here, even with our GPS acting up. Road are good.

Tamarindo is touristy but also laid back and fun. Walked back to the hotel at 1am through dark deserted streets last night.. Felt totally at ease. Will definitely be coming back

Isn't the PHX frequency a drop?? and the LAS increase is 1 flight if I am not mistaken. Overall not much for YEG from WestJet.

It's a increase of 4 weekly transborder flights for the summer as PHX was normally a winter only route for WS and yes a small increase for LAS for the summer.

Sunwing has also decided to maintain MBJ and VRA for the summer from YEG so they will have 4 weekly flights this summer from YEG with CUN and PVR also operating for the summer.
