My guess would be steel with concrete core, which is pretty much steel. The Bow is one of the few I've heard of that's 100% steel.

It seems to be hit and miss. Most of the office towers here are concrete, but lately steel is gaining more usage. The Bow and EAP were both steel. Others like Centennial Place, Jamieson Place and City Centre are concrete.

I don't know if these were posted in here already, but here are a few more renders of Brookfield Place

Its amazing how in the view from the south, the taller tower absolutely dwarfs the ~40-storey Scotia tower. This is going to be a huge tower.

Digging is going incredibly fast for such a huge project. I wouldn't be surprised to see cranes start going up in the next couple of months. A refreshing change from the non-starts and slow starts that seem to plague skyscraper construction in this city.

With the foundations of the previous buildings now reduced to rubble, excavation is going significantly faster. I don't know if I would say "cranes up in a couple months" but definitely by the end of summer we will see the first concrete pours and the first crane.

Judging by how far down they are, I would say crane time around June.

They're moving down at a good pace, even with this latest cold snap.

Call me crazy, but I really hope the finished product is not just going to be clad in more generic blue glass. Look at Vancouver and the Toronto water front. Don't we have enough blue glass yet? You know what I would like to see. I would like it if this building was clad in black, resembling modernist styles from the 1960s. It would sure be a great focal point of the skyline, and not just a practically invisible, uninspired white/blue glass monolith.

^^I don't think your'e crazy! Look at the Columbia Center in Seattle.... Sears & Hancock towers in Chicago! The Bow is So wide that it completely takes the focal point away from everything else. It's a good point, but I don't think Black colors would work! I'd rather see another 80-100 feet in height!!

I would still suspect that Brookfield Place would blunt the effect of Bow on the skyline.

Brookfield place is a pretty wide tower so should blunt it a fair amount.

I believe we will be getting more of a silver hue to the glass on this one, should look good and stand out with the buildings that surround it.

I wouldn't mind an old school black glass tower Who knows, it might be the next trend.

I saw an older rendering of a tower they're building in China, looked like a perfect blend of modern with mid-20th century modernist styles. Something like that would look stunning in downtown Calgary

Deepstar -

What does that "spider" looking structure in the lobby area suppose to present?

Placeholder art for the rendering, nothing more than that.
