This is the same technology that became SkyTrain in Vancouver a few years later.

Who remembers the helpful Skytrain Assistants when Skytrain was brand-new and people were scared that the trains would go WILD and Jump Off The Tracks without a human at the controls? After a year or so, someone figured out they were an un-needed expense & retired.

You can still see the [press to open] button on the doors of the original Skytrain cars.
