Pre-clearing for IAH is fine as you'll do it here but on the way back... customs at IAH can be a bit of a nightmare. Not MIA levels, but still a nightmare.
Other option is DEN.

So on the YYC-IAH-CUN portion, there's no security or anything else, just a simple connection? Checked last few days and YYC-IAH arrived at terminal C.

On the way back I guess one will collect checked baggage and do customs/immigration at DEN, then proceed to security and gate?

I've never connected internationally at DEN so can't comment on customs there.

Customs at DEN, arrive at one of four gates at A concourse, up two flights of stairs and then walk across the air bridge from A to Jeppeson terminal. Clear customs and spil out to the open ground side terminal. Go down to arrivals level to clear security. From there it's a quick train ride to concourse B.

Red light/green light always seems to be the dread of the couples who are travelling with "special contraptions". Thankfully our security team is no stranger to running into these items and will not pull them out of the bag for the rest of the crowd to see... Although they have been known to occasionally giggle depending on the nature of the "find".

Interesting that she's in for heavy mx so soon after being grounded for a month while getting her new paint in November.

ACA1286 operated YYC-PHX as B763 today instead of usual E190. Was the flight cancelled/go mech the day before?

Edit: a quick check on Flightaware showed it was operated by E190. Since I spoke to the B763 on the way out, I know as a fact that is incorrect, though perhaps it really did return as a E190 (swap with the YVR-PHX plane possibly?) Flightaware rather unreliable when showing type operated.

Fin 634 it looks like, routed OGG-YYC-PHX-YYC-LHR. Today was just AC making use of the OGG plane that otherwise sits around all day for 12+ hours before operating 850 to LHR (though it left YYC for PHX 1.5 hrs late this morning and the delays stacked up)

Minus the LHR segment and this would be good AC rouge routing.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing some Rouge 763's here on a regular basis. Hope the CDG (and wherever else) rumours are true. Go right at WS with a committed 763 for YYC-LAS, as they've done for YYZ! Definitely make things interesting.

The Thomas Cook partnership, using the B752 at 211 seats, for YYC/YEG to HNL/OGG has been quite successful. Almost always full loads, as far as I can tell. So I would hope that larger aircraft (B787 or B767 is my guess) will join the WS fleet within the next few years. I would imagine it's a matter of when, not if, that will happen.

I have to say seeing he odd 753 here in Maui is that it is one weird looking bird, so long and spindly. Even more than the A346.

hypothetically speaking...any idea what the turnaround would be on an -87, from when they place an order to when they receive the jet? ~ 2 years?

Transat has taken possession of its first 737-800 on lease from Transavia France.

Looks good in the full Transat colours.

Appears as though Enerjet will take over the summer Runs to CUN from YVR, YEG and YYC with its 73G's again for this summer. However I suspect that will end once more 738's are received.

The future for CanJet doesn't look good however with the Transat contract ending once it has its own 738's in place.

At least, probably 3-4 I'd guess. They are currently working at 10/month I believe, and there are ~900 in the order backlog. Of course some customers don't mind waiting longer, and there will always be some cancellations and shuffling about of the production order but at least a few years.

From spotters point of view now we need A359 in YYC in the horizon. BA/KLM has some orders so we have a slim chance to see A359 one-day. Will Westjet go for an Airbus product?

I've been told by an AC employee to "for sure" expect fin 801 on some YYZ-YYC-YYZ rotations. I'm pretty confident in her.
