To Memphis? It's a combination of interstates: 20, 65, 22. I-22 is nearing completion. It's 98% built, with the exception of a small stretch connecting to I-65 north of Birmingham and a connection to I-240 in Memphis. The connection to I-65 will be done later this year. I'm not sure about the last 8-10 miles to I-240 in Memphis.

This could be the apartment project that is going along with the Krog Street Market development. Was it behind the Stove Works?

From the Curbed article.

"Construction on a 222-unit apartment complex called "Alexan On Krog Street" could begin by late this year. The garden-style apartments will rise just south of the existing Stove Works complex and should take less than 18 months to complete. One selling point, officials hope, will be the project's hundreds of feet of Beltline frontage. "

I'm glad Novare thought to have functional rooftops in their Skyhouse apartments. Rooftop space is something we're lacking in this city and a niche that needed to be filled. I know people that live in Skyhouse Midtown. They're always posting pictures of their views on Instagram. I think it really promotes inner city living amongst Millennials.

I see that the Olympia building is coming before the Urban Design Commission on February 12.

This is a terrific building in a key location, with much potential to help the Five Points area.

Weiland and Huff Rd.

Just found out that Weiland is looking to put 89 (up to 120) town homes off of Huff Rd.

On the site of the old West Town land.

Bham-ATL High Speed Rail

You should download GDOT's Phase One report for this from http://www.rpcgb.org/transportation/transit/

The next step would have been to complete an Environmental Impact Study for this corridor. But, unfortunately, there is little political support for this in either of the states affected. More importantly, it appears that Pres. Obama has given up on this initiative.

i think a line between charlotte and atlanta would make a lot more sense, would gain a lot more attention and would have way more commuters using it than an atlanta-birmingham line.

Construction Update #7.3 + SNOW!!!

Ponce City Market: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGX-CYfSewI
Restoration continues. The main tower has finally been cleaned of all the green gunk. The pinnacle looks great! I also noticed part of the construction site has been breached by the public and some are using it as a cut through from Glen Iris to Ponce. Not safe people!

755 North Apartments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTH73K-0ayg
Crews are up to the 5th floor of the 1st building. The complex backs right up to the Eastside Beltline Trail. On this particular day the trail was PACKED. I saw 100+ people pass me and I was only on the trail 20 mins. ATL needs more trails ASAP

AMLI Ponce Park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vJFPZnvLbY
This is turing out to be an interesting, architecturally speaking, development. The balconies on each of the 5 floors offer a visually appealing break to the continuity of the surrounding buildings. Park front views should be pretty nice.

BOHO 4W: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwL2Kqk144Y
It looks like Building 1 is open and already has a few residents. The other buildings are still taking shape. I can confirm that BOHO 4W will also front Glen Iris.

Norfolk Southern Train with Skyline night view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXTHd13I8S4
If you've ever been to the Amtrak Station, you may have seen this view of the skyline.

That area around O4W park is becoming so dense and awesome.Ridiculous how much development there is within that very small radius and I don't think it's done yet. I won't be surprised to see that little industrial block to the South of the BoHo development get re-developed into more apartments. That area will desperately need some sort of transit soon. It's very much going to become a West Midtown type of situation. Yes, they have the beltline so it does make it somewhat easily to navigate through the Eastside neighborhoods, but it's still a mil away from any sort of transit station, if not more.

Could be just the catalyst needed for the east-west ponce/north ave streetcar

Wouldn't that be a great route for the city to push? It would get so much use going from Tech, Coke, North Ave Marta, Ponce Market and out to Moreland. Awesome!

i agree with you but i think it's going to need more than just the streetcar planned to go through there. i'm thinking it might be a good idea to start planning a subway line under ponce or north.

I'm hesitant to argue over hypotheticals, but running a subway line / heavy rail line to this area of town would be a horrible waste of money. With access to the Beltline, a future east-west light rail / streetcar line down North Avenue would be sufficient. That area of town is less than 2 miles from the North Avenue MARTA station and simply needs a connection to MARTA via light rail / streetcar.

Agreed, ATL_J. Not only will we never see a subway through there in our lifetimes, it would be a huge waste of money. The Beltline LRT and an East-West streetcar line will be fine.

that is if we see lrt in Atlanta in our lifetime which i'm not sure is a given. Streetcar downtown has to show some success in order to convince people expansion is needed I think.

i would agree with you if the area remains a live/play district. however, with businesses and offices locating in ponce city market, you might see the ponce corridor becoming a job center in the future. bear in mind, i'm not talking about today; i'm talking about 20-30 years out. i think people are really going to be surprised at the size of atlanta 30 years from now.

if we're talking about *today*, there are only a couple of corridors i think really need heavy rail ITP. those are west midtown and the clifton corridor, and possibly to the international terminal and hapeville.

30 years from now is a different story.

i suspect 30 years from now there will be demand for a second subway line under peachtree and through buckhead hitting the buckhead triangle.

30 years from now we're going to be talking about light rail to lakewood, down 166 to greenbriar, along buford highway, and along stewart avenue (metropolitan). this sounds extreme now, but i'll bet you a year's salary these are the conversations we're going to be having then.

i think it's important that our transit discussions start becoming proactive rather than reactive. this is how we've planned roads for years, and we need to start thinking about transit in the same sort of way.

of course, due to lack of funding, we're a good 20 years behind where we need to be on the transit front, so we need to prioritize. but i don't think it's a bad idea to start thinking to the future when we talk about transit.
