Slow news day but have observed the following:

Sunwing adding a weekly flight to MBJ this summer. So there will be a total of 3 weekly Sunwing flights this summer compared to 2 last year (VRA and CUN return as well).

Looks like AC starting to tweak their domestic summer scheds.

So far of note for YYC is YUL bumping up to 5 daily from 4 last summer.

In case anybody cares, 2x E90, 2x 320, and 1x 319 redeye.

Dunno why it's showing 6 flights westbound at the moment (3x E90, 2x 320, 1x 319)

Actually one of those westbound E90s is via YOW. So still 5 daily non-stops each way.

Looks like WS is 5x 738, 5x 73G, and 1x 736.

I'm curious to see exactly how the WS fleet shuffle goes this year with the new 738 coming but the 73G going to WN (5 this year, 5 next year). And all that flying they've added.

AC (so far) is pretty much status quo on all domestic routes this summer (except YUL) and of course Red Deer started last fall. 16 YYC-YYZ is the same as last year and similar equipment too. AC usually finalises domestic summer scheds in February.

Good stuff. I'll make myself useful and keep an eye on the Europe flights, just one slight change so far since the upguages were first loaded in, still looking good:

March 4 - AC850/851 -- 763 > 333 (pushed back from March 2)
March 30 - AC844/845 -- 333 > 77W
June 1 - AC850/851 -- 333 > 77W

Just under 9 weeks till we're back to regularly scheduled 77W service, not to mention AC's first 788 will be coming right around then and will surely get a YYC rotation or two... I'm excited.

I wonder if we'll ever get AC852 (second daily LHR flight) back. I'm beginning to think no... with the 763's getting Rouged and all.

Doubtful, particularly with BA bringing the 788 this spring/summer. Consequently, both AC and BA have already added seats this summer when compared with recent years. That's more than enough for now, I imagine.

Very doubtful there will be a second summer time 763 service on YYC-LHR.

In the days of two summer time YYC-LHR flights AC put 763 aircraft on both services. Double daily 763 service results in 48J seats and 374 Y seats. The new High Density 77W are 36J, 24 PE, 398 Y. If there was a demand increase in the summer time, sending the high capacity 77W is more appropriate than two 763s because of increase Y seats plus there is no requirement for 48J seats.

I was under the impression both LHR and FRA were to be the non high density 77W's. I think AC is designating the high density ones as 77H.

Yes, it's baffled me they didn't open a YYZ crew base sooner considering the number of flights.

They tried running it as a port but always had problems with Captains. No problem getting enough F/O's since many of them are newer hires and chose YYZ to port out of if they were living east. Captains were always another story as the vast majority live in Western Canada and porting out of YYZ wasn't all that appealing. The new crew base in YYZ, although badly needed has forced a number of crew, especially Captains to relocate to YYZ which has not been overly popular with some of them.

Regular 3X3X3 two class 77W will be on FRA and LHR runs.

Also with the implementation of S14 schedule, the three class 77Ws are fully committed to the following routes:
YVR-YYZ one daily flight.
YVR-HKG
YVR-LHR
YUL-LHR
YUL-CDG

With this schedule if there is an unexpected cancellation, they will be subbed by two cabin 77W.

AC quietly dropped the 77H moniker from their RES systems a few months ago. Today all aircraft are designated 77W. The only difference is the presence of premium economy or "O" class.

I coulda sworn that at one point, maybe only briefly, 850 was a 333 and 852 was a 763. I distinctly remember spotting (2010 I think) and it was 2x A333 (844, 850) and 1x 763 on 852. But yeah, I guess the sardine can has more than enough seats. They'd need a slot anyway, maybe YEG took the old 852 slot?

You are correct the early 2000s had AC850 as a 333 and AC852 as a 763, however there was no AC898 (YEG-LHR) service during that summer.

No I mean the current 898 took the old slot that 852 had when they stopped it in 2010.

Random airport comment:

At Denver security they were sending everyone through the xray porn tube machine rather than only randomly picked people or people who failed the regular scanner. In fact, and this is no joke, the semi-elderly TSA guy kept saying "Gotta keep the tube filled folks!" and was blocking access to the regular metal detector scanner. Is this normal now in the US of A?

At IAH it seemed to me that the regular detectors were sort for overflow and the primary path was the porn tube. Changed in the new year, maybe.

I went thru the tube a few times, always turn my head as I am leaving to see how my figure looks. I need to start working out a bit more..
At least I haven't had any embarrassing scans revealing morning wood syndrome hahah.

I don't mind the full body scans even though they are mainstream in US airports. I sometimes pose in a different way to the annoyance of the TSA folks. Anybody recall the infamous Colonel Stuart pose in Die hard 2 beginning?? ^^

At DFW I saw some girl going through and she was so narcissistic that she couldn't do it normally. Couldn't help herself from cocking her hips to the side, or bring her hands to "pose". Had to go through like 4 times. Absurd.
