All of the photos I posted today were taken in the last few days. Unfortunately I've already deleted the originals which got compressed when uploading if there were any new details hidden in the interior shadows.

One thing I did notice was the work happening on top of what is Gate 8 of the original arena building. The viaduct connection has also been completed, but I can't be sure since I wasn't taking photos the last time I was on the sidewalk next to the arena. Finally, in one of the photos you can see they are starting to wall off that first floor above ground level.

They're doing lane closures this week for viaduct/GM Place work:

in the 1st photo you can see the spandrel and glass frames going up on the 1st floor ... ie one of the floors below the viaduct level.

dont forget this will be a phased opening. so it seems like they are putting lots of work into getting the bottom finished asap

It appears they have primarily spent the last month or so connecting the new building to the existing arena. The first X floors which are commercially zoned are supposed to be opened before the next NHL regular season.

From tonight, it looks like they are done connecting to nearby structures and are once again pushing upwards, this time above the stadium's height.

It is somewhat slow, but not surprising considering it's tying into an existing building which is always more time consuming. It should start to shoot up now that it's above the stadium.

Whats the word with the retail/commercial components of the south and east towers? I would have loved to see a movie theatre and a nice big KTV (private room karoke) in the 'entertainment district'. Also a real 10 pin bowling alley and arcade and fun stuff like that!

I guess the profit margin for most of those types of business would make them not ideal for north false creek? Maybe if the liquor laws are relaxed and these places were licensed it could work..

The south tower is on stilts, so I don't think there's any commercial or retail space. The east tower has a few floors of office space in its podium, and I think the retail would be limited to what's there now - the Canucks store.

This is an incredibly complex structure as it ties into both the Viaduct & the Arena. There is also some re-design of the upper floors going on right now, that affects the lower floors as well. It is contributing to the lack of visible production.

The one and the same. I don't have access to the drawings, but the tie in is more for access while the Viaducts are there as there is not firm plan to take them down that is in the public realm. The tie in is to allow for access from the viaducts until such time as they are removed.

They're finishing the lower levels so they can open for the fall hockey season.
