It has passed that milestone where the shape of the tower becomes apparent.
It'll be interesting when they start building over top of Gate 8.

Interesing how structurally, there's very little support on the site nearest the camera in this shot. How tall is this tower going to be? That's a lot of weight to be supported without any columns.

That's what the very thick slab above the "first" floor is for - it's called a "transfer slab" and is meant to make up for the fact that the columns above it do not line up with any columns below. Transfer slabs are typically found where floorplates (and columns and walls) change.

The transfer slab between the Georgia Tower's office floors and the condo floors was pretty well an entire floor thick - pic from Georgia thread below:

Good quick explanation, Officedweller. The transfer slab for Spectrum remains the largest and thickest mass of rebar I have ever seen. Some of the core rebar lengths must have been as thick as my arm; far thicker than conventional rebar.

It's incredible how easily it fits to its small lot. It looks like there was always a space for a building, although that's not how I remember it before this project started going up.

I am guessing if the City takes down the viaduct the connector piece in the photo will be a raised plaza for workers?

I think they plan on retaining some kind of walkway from Georgia leading up to the gates on that corner of the arena.
