I bet you they loved that. That would just be so huge for that corner. Very excited for more details. I think my 2020 prediction of Midtown beginning to hit a critical mass is going to become true. It really will be one of the most densest, most walkable urban neighborhoods, not only in the SE, but in the country.

EDIT: A few construction updates coming shortly.

Absolutely refreshing! This will be a great addition to Midtown. I can't wait till more details are released as well. Thank you for the photos.

Resto and retail tenants for 280 Elizabeth Street announced

The 46 million mixed-use development in the heart of Inman Park has signed leases with three restaurants and a fashion retailer.

The team building the 280 Elizabeth Street project on Jan. 14 announced the following tenants:
Chef Ford Fry will open a concept in a two-level freestanding building at the corner of Elizabeth Street and North Highland Avenue.

"Adam Evans and I are working on a ‘sister’ restaurant to The Optimist for the jewel box building. We see an extensive oyster bar with the added wood burning ovens roasting small plates of fish and shellfish. Not to mention a craft-oriented bar full of cool cocktails and amazing beers," Fry said in a release.
Bartaca Restaurant Group, which also operates Barcelona Wine Bar, will open its new concept called Bartaco directly across from the wine bar.

"We have been delighted to be part of the Inman Park neighborhood for several years now. We are thrilled to be adding something to the next stage in its growth, and look forward to being part of the fabric of the community for years to come,” said Andy Pforzheimer, CEO of the Barteca Restaurant Group.

MF Sushi, a concept from the Kinjo brothers, will return to Atlanta with a spot along the development’s greenspace.

“We are excited to be a part of this Inman Park project and very excited to bring back our product to the city of Atlanta. We have always valued our customers and look forward to bringing back our style and quality together with improvements over the years to fulfill our patrons’ every need. Simply put, we are excited to be serving the city that made us," said Alex Kinjo, general manager of MF Sushi.

Bill Hallman will open a new boutique at the project along Highland Avenue.

"It was very exciting when I learned about the 280 Inman Park project. That area of the city has seen tremendous growth in recent years and certainly has become a 'go to place.' It was decided early on that a Bill Hallman store must be part of this exciting new development. I look forward to unveiling a fresh shopping experience highlighting my new Bill Hallman Collection along with many international designers," Hallman said.

The 280 Elizabeth project will consist of 200 luxury apartments and almost 40,000 square feet of retail. It's set to finish construction in early 2015.

Perkins + Will

The developer (Integral Group) is putting a lot of thought into this project & appears to be sparing no expense. I was particularly impressed with how the developer approached the parking deck - making it a design element.

Fabulous news all around. I am super excited about this development. Going to a party at Barcelona next month - their fantastic patio will be a great place to watch the progress on this one.

Thanks for posting, micropundit!

280 Elizabeth

Ford Fry's 27th restaurant, another Bill Hallman store and a resurrection of MF Sushi Bar. How creative.

Very nice. I love the location, the street frontage, the incorporation of the deck into the design and that it looks like no other building currently in Atlanta.

Puppetry Arts Center to build new museum

Set to open in 2015, the $14 million expanded new museum space will feature expanded exhibit areas for both the Global Collection and the Jim Henson Collection. These new exhibitions will be immersive and interactive, allowing guests of all ages to explore puppetry in unique ways, challenging preconceptions and giving a new appreciation of the global scope and universal power of the art form. As part of this project, the Center is also protecting and preserving hundreds of international and Henson treasures for future generations to enjoy and understand.

This expansion will bring the Center’s world-renowned collection and the largest collection of Henson’s art to a wider audience, and will continue to make the Center a one-of-a-kind experience within the world of puppetry.
