Edmonton is currently building its final sections of its ring road.

Quote:
The project involves 27 kilometres of six- and eight-lane divided roadway, 8 interchanges, 9 flyovers, 2 river structures, and 47 total bridge structures. Using the P3 process, the road will be finished three years earlier than through conventional delivery.

I know there has been a lot of debate about transportation policy, but I am wondering: why is the Turcot interchange reconstruction in Montreal like $4 billion? Are there extras being added to it or other costs involved? That is probably higher than the cost to construct the entire 407 around Toronto, which has a whole bunch of impressive interchanges.

I'm not an expert, but the reconstruction of this interchange is WAY MORE large than the interchange itself.

Thats why it's called the turcot ''complexe'' because there is (if my memories are good) three other interchanges west of the turcot one.
Plus many streets, exit & merges lanes IN and AROUND the complexe.

Edit : here we go : Turcot interchange (the biggest one), Angrignon Interchange, De la vérendrye Interchange and Montréal-ouest interchange.

So it's HUGE, it's like many projects in one, and/or a major facelift for the whole area.

If you can read french :

This is a update on Autoroute 5 near Wakefield PQ. My pilot's a Brit and he loves his roundabouts.

A Thunder Bay Winterscape.

This is a colour photo. I have others with even less colour. You can barely even get colour out of them when you turn the saturation up all the way, it's that bad.

Ye Gods that's depressing. Almost as bad as here in Deathbridge during/after a storm. It's been a damned hard winter so far - below -20 temps and ridiculous amounts of snow and it's not even January yet - and there's still three months to go. I understand now why people go postal and kill all their co-workers.

Most places in the British Isles, but it gets worse the further north you go. Glasgow? Grey, grim, and dilapidated infrastructure.

Just saying that the weather is very depressing. Usually Decmber is not all that cold and not a huge amount of snow, but we've had a lot of both so far.

We don't go postal and kill all our coworkers.

We do shrooms and orgy.

Hopefully most people are more grateful towards life than this.

Ah, the lovely grey of winter. It makes the world look fresh and new. Unlike the horrid smoggy haze and humidity of the summer.
