Just to clarify things this week will not be the week that a major route announcement is made. There was some confusion about a Facebook post made by EIA that I just caught on to...
However I have been informed that a announcement will be made (Likely in Jan).
DFW will be added to the roster. Now the question remains Mad dog? 738? 319 (Maybe).
So the route announcement tomorrow is something other than DFW then? YYC-YEG-Asia would be great.
I know it would be shocking and i have heard nothing but perhaps a YEG-WAW route? LO is leasing out it's 787's to AY (with embarrassment on the Polish avgeek boards) and chartering flights to Bangkok, Nairobi and Cancun this winter. LO is receiving it's 6th 787 next year and they are having trouble finding profitable routes (if you can imagine that) with their newly purchased aircraft. Flights to YYZ will increase to 9x weekly though which may kaibosh in expanding to any place else in Canada.
Starting in 2014, Edmontonians will have a new way to get to the Lone Star state through a direct flight to Dallas, Texas, Metro has learned.
Sources have told Metro that sometime in the first half of 2014, American Airlines will begin operating the direct flight from Edmonton International. More details on the flight were expected to be announced at a press conference Friday morning.
I am interested to see what aircraft will be used for the route? one of the new A319's?
All will be confirmed in the morning…
Also note that the mid day UA#245 DEN-YEG is operating with a A320 for the next bit.
#245 looks to be operated United looks to be around pretty much through out spring, and then I would assume summer. Good news. Will be interesting to see flight times of the AA flight. Would be great to see a 6 or 7pm flight back to TX. EIA is a major feeder to YYC at that time.
^We have a parade set up downtown with "one flight daily" announcements.
As well, Vinesh Pratrap should apply to the Edmonton Sun. Saying that, beggars can't be choosers.
Why? Apart from needing to learn to distinguish between "transborder" and "international", Vinny's one of the few good Global reporters left, and the one who seemed to first break the news about the flight. If I recall, it was the SUN or its readers who were like "why the hell would anyone want to go to Iceland?"
