The way they keep growing, Stantec will need to move into a new office tower soon!

^that and more beat cops, more open businesses with eyes on the street and more people means less opportunity for dark/quiet areas for thieves.

Just wait. Crime downtown will be even less prevalent when we're done with building. Eyes on street is better than any beat cop. Hands down

Remarkable improvement for the Downtown Division. I see this trend continuing in the future. I still would like to see more beat officers walking the streets of the core.

Paramount Theatre could get renewed lease on life as entertainment venue

Quote:
EDMONTON - The Paramount Theatre, a venerable downtown moviehouse turned church, could soon become an arts and entertainment venue again.

For lease signs have been erected on the 61-year-old theatre’s marquee, on Jasper Avenue and 102nd Street. The building has served as a home for the City Centre Church since 2006.

Marino Padoan, sales associate at commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, said the building landlord, Procura, has given instructions on re-leasing the 818-seat theatre.

“They’ve asked us for our expertise on what we think could work in there, and we’ve actually toured it a number of times in the last few weeks,” Padoan said. “Most of the groups that we’ve toured it with have been all either arts groups or entertainment companies that are looking to potentially bring it back to more of a live venue.

“Most groups feel that there’s enough of an arts scene and enough of a variety of live arts and theatrical groups that could probably work booking this facility out on a regular basis.”

It has good acoustics, lighting, a large stage and a sloping floor for clear sightlines, he said.
The article further states that Procura won't be building there any time soon.

Fantastic... I loath its current underutilization.

The article further states that Procura won't be building there any time soon.

Procura president and CEO George Schluessel said Monday that the company is not planning to build on the site anytime soon.

“I’ve got no plans because of uncertainty in the downtown office market,” Schluessel said.

“Unless the uncertainty goes away, we can’t make any definitive plans.”

Really!!! I Mean Really!

Procura.....This would be the best time to build lol...Unbelievable!!

^ Yeah, somehow he manages to lodge his foot further and further inside his mouth with every passing statement. I mean, really, what uncertainty? Downtown Edmonton is seeing the largest boom since the 1980s.

Given the turds they've been shitting (or threatening to 🞵🞵🞵🞵) onto our landscape, I would rather that Procura not build anything there at all.

Heard on CBC Radio 1 that Colonel Mustard's on 124th is being torn down and being replaced with a new building where a new incarnation of CM will take up a smaller bay. It suffered significant structural damage during a watermain break in February.

Correct, they likely will be splitting the space with another CRU.
