Good news indeed... another injection of people into an established neighbourhood that is central and close to many amenities.

There are really only 2-3 places along Jasper that would fit... but this one matches the contour, has an alley on the west side and has a closed alley north south...

That said, last I knew, John Day held most of these lands and I cannot see him going with RKF.

rotate the sketch 180 degrees and it would fit nicely right across the street...

Well, the old St. Mary's hospital on Whyte Avenue was turned into lofts. There are many examples of this. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from.

In my mind, the nicest looking repurposing in Edmonton, if not Alberta.

Phase 2 makes no sense. The micro floor plates, one tower side core, the other central core, etc. There's serious costing inefficiencies here.

And does the side core tower's core reside along a view-facing side of the tower?

I would bet cash money that this is for the northeast corner of Jasper and 107 st...it matches the street plan in the massing model, and no viable commercial/historic residential buildings would be demolished.

Oh, and the site fits within the standard lots that presently exist and have already been amalgamated across the alley.

Hmm...I forgot that the west lot is BP's parking. I wonder if something is in the works to sell off the on-site parking? Maybe a bit of a stretch, but not impossible.

At the risk of over-speculating more than I already have, here's hoping that it means the BP site is up for a wholesale redevelopment
