Right now, all we have is taking the contractor at their word (46% complete) and Troop adding "ready by June 30" and "We're right on track to deliver"... and those who look at daily progress from the web cams and proclaim their opinions that this will/will not be done on time.

It may or may not get done on time. My guess is that it'll be a little late, but it's not really a big deal either way. It's hardly anything to get upset about either way.

Yeah, it could actually end up being a great place to enjoy a game.

It will be better than Ivor Wynne... that's a given... it HAS to be.
But to people living in the Hamilton area whose opinions only matter (not opinions from those who are constantly cheerleading this from hundreds or thousands of miles away) it's a disappointment. I'm not going to re-hash the reasons why - if anyone wants to learn about it, they can go to the Hamilton sub-forum.

Suck it up and get over it! Posting old renders of stadiums that weren't even seriously considered isn't going to change the situation. Better to cheer-lead than troll. Negativity accomplishes zero, actually less than zero

- The new main staircases at the east and west end of the south stands are now in place and waiting for railings to be installed.
- The vertical beams of the Veil continue to be put up.
- Inside the south stands, the new offices and locker rooms are being built.
- At the north stands, many of the new seats have been put in.
- Work on the new roof over the north stands continues

The contractor was able to install a lot of the remaining seats in the north stands last week


The seating bowl that will extend to field level is now being formed at the south stands


Several of the vertical beams of the new wooden Veil that surrounds the south stands have been put up


With the help of a large crane, workers move one of the Veil’s wooden beams into position


At the west end of the south stands, the new stairs have been built, the Veil is visible and work on the media box at the top level continues

As far as now goes though, as nice as Ottawa is looking, I'd have to give "The pride of the CFL" title to Winnipeg or BC.

Ottawa's south stand is probably the most beautiful looking grandstand you'll find anywhere in Canada... that wood looks great. However, the upper deck is so small you have to wonder why they even bothered... for all the difference it makes, they could have just as easily put those extra 8 rows of seats below the luxury boxes and had a single-deck grandstand like Calgary.

Something that we haven't really heard about, is what kind of material is going on the veil at the top to act as cover. You can see it in the drawings. Hopefully it won't detract from the veil.

Have to go with this opinion as well at this point. Regina may take it in the end, I don't see the other 2 as surpassing them at this point.

A bit different from the Hamilton process then - heaven knows when those designs will ever be released to the public, if ever.

Slightly off topic, but my interest in stadiums came from seeing the designs in the competition for the SkyDome, I kept the newspaper and it may still be at my parent's house somewhere. I never saw those render photos again, I wonder if they are posted on the Internet because I think I can remember them.

Edit: God bless Google, found it. Haven't seen these in over 30 years.

Maybe Winnipeg but BC Place seems too cavernous to be a good CFL stadium.

I never understood how people on this board could absolutely trash Rogers Centre with one breath and then call BC Place the pride of the CFL with the next... I realize the sightlines are a little different and the seats are a little closer to the field at BC but still.

I'd rank CFL stadiums as follows:

1) Winnipeg
2) Ottawa
3) Edmonton
4) BC
5) Regina
6) Toronto
7) Hamilton
8) Calgary
9) Montreal

Don't care what anybody says; Molson Stadium looks like an absolute dump; stained concrete and bench seating...what decade is this. I'd rather they play at Olympic.

It's true that Molson is extremely bare-bones. Bench seating for the entire stadium I am pretty sure. I guess people give it love because of the location and atmosphere...

Several stadium concepts were proposed in the late 60's and 70's for Toronto. Common in 1960's stadium architecture, most were for round, multipurpose facilities.

This project was proposed in 1968 for a 1976 Olympics bid


This concept would have been just to the East of where Rogers Centre is now


This project was proposed in 1959 for a 1964 Olympics bid


This project was a concept based at Toronto's North York area in 1971
