This does indeed appear to be a shoring rig at KR. Does that make this officially under construction?

^^ It won't look quite like that now that it's all office, but it should still be a very nice addition.

^ The one RTA posted is more up to date

I think with the hotel, they were looking at around 250k of office floor space. They've essentially doubled that. Looks like the floorplates got bigger too.

So far all I hear that is in ink is 40K for KPMG, but at this early stage I wouldn't worry too much about it.

CALGARY - Calgary and Edmonton are outperforming the rest of the country when it comes to the rate of return on commercial real estate investment for the year ending September 30.

The REALpac/IPD Canada Annual Property Index said Calgary’s annual return was 15.4 per cent while in Edmonton it was 14.1 per cent. The national average, for six major markets surveyed, was 12.7 per cent.

The big surprise is that the Herald included any reference to Edmonton. The details are well known in real estate circles. Glad to see that the folks at the Herald are growing up.

Good to hear that KPMG is getting rid of the McAudit office and going to better/proper office space.

I look forward to seeing the current KPMG space in Commerce Place filled by retail as the good Lord intended. Is there enough room there for a bigger Holt Renfrew? Or a Saks?

Talking about kpmg... 102nd street is the best example of why street level is so important. It's a canyon of nothingness.

Duncan Fraser from the City presented the CRL/Catalyst projects information to DECL last night. We were fortunate to have Councillor McKeen in attendance and he is very keen on pushing these projects forward.

Evolving Infill is a project being done by the City, in collaboration with citizens and stakeholders, to advance residential infill. It is both a conversation and project designed to embrace and harness change.

This is a new approach that will build a shared understanding about infill in Edmonton and identify what we can do to collectively make choices that support the evolution of established neighbourhoods through infill development.

Over the next 30 years we expect over 500,000 new residents to call Edmonton home. Supporting new housing in established neighbourhoods is a key element of finding homes for a growing population.

Infill is one of a number of strategies to support growth and change in our city.

The outcome of Evolving Infill will be an Action Plan that will serve as a roadmap for the City’s work to advance infill. Actions identified in the Plan will support and build on public conversation and Edmonton’s long term vision.

Actions that could be identified through this project include changes to regulations, policies, processes and other activities related to infill.

Do you have questions about the project? We have some answers.

Project timeline
Step 1: Explore & Understand: Gathering All Our Stories
Nov 2013 -
Jan 2014 Come together to share values, priorities, and suggestions for infill development in Edmonton
Step 2: Identify, Refine & Prioritize
Feb - Mar 2014 Bring together a range of stakeholders to collectively identify next steps and actions that build on public conversation and advance Edmonton's long term goals
Step 3: Moving Towards Implementation

Develop an Infill Action Plan that identifies actions and priorities and serves as a road map for the City's work to support more new housing in established communities.
This plan will be revisited on an ongoing basis over the coming years to evaluate our progress and make sure that we are still on track.
