So how does the AA/US merger impact flights for EIA? Currently we have zero AA flights, and only 2 US Airways flights - Phoenix and Las Vegas?

^ NO. Only two dailies to PHX during the winter and then usually back to 1 mainline (or a mix of 1 mainline and 1 RJ) during the summer

Options from least risky to YEG to most risky to YEG.
Option 1: new AA dehubs PHX and the YEG-PHX flights transfer to YEG-DFW flights.
Option 2: New AA dehubs PHX and does nothing with YEG-PHX. Loss of service on the new AA.
Option 3: New AA maintains PHX with no change to YEG operations.
Option 4: new AA starts YEG-DFW in addition to YEG-PHX.

The underlying asumption in the risk to YEG is that a new AA will work vigorously to improve yields out of PHX. In doing so they will be looking to adjust PHX operations and this could have an impact on YEG pax who use PHX as a connection point.

Yes they are.

For the period:
Nov 9 - 30, 2013 / Jan 5 - Feb 28, 2014

This is the normal low season.

Don't forget they have to (try and) fill a 275 seat behemoth 777-300ER on that route.

AA already codeshares on WS YEG-PHX, I'd imagine that will be bumped to year-round within the next couple of seasons, and could supplement the current US route if it gets axed. Long term, I'd anticipate both PHX and DFW in some capacity.

From what i've read months back when all the merger talk started, PHX and LAX are in too close proximity to be hubs and that LAX will be the hub on the west coast for the new AA. Saying that, i don't believe YEG will lose the PHX route simply based on the snowbirds that fly to and from even though those are low yielding passengers.

Travellers flying from the Edmonton International Airport will have to dig deeper in their wallets to pay for maintenance or new construction.

The airport improvement fee is going up by $5 to $30 per departing passenger, applying to travel on or after July 1 for tickets sold on or after Feb. 1. Edmonton's fee was last raised on Jan. 1, 2012 to $25 from $20.

"As the fastest-growing major airport in Canada over the last 10 years, this increase will help fund the growth and maintenance capital plans that we need to reach our target of 10 million passengers per year by 2020," said Reg Milley, president and CEO of Edmonton Airports...

3rd runway isn't needed now, but the future? Who knows?
I say acquire the land for 3rd runway now rather than later, before sprawl and higher land costs become an issue.
