Do Ya'll remember the renovation Bank of America plaza in dallas is going through well tonight I noticed that the building has new LED's and it's now Multicolor! There is only a small portion of the lights on. It's Beautiful. Check it out!!!

Exciting! Because of the parties involved and Dallas' general momentum, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something happen here sooner rather than later.

Great Gulf homes picks Dallas for first luxury condo development in U.S

Huge news for Dallas and, really, for Texas. Tuesday night, at a very exclusive cocktail party on the mezzanine at the Winspear, the elite of Dallas real estate met the folks from Toronto who will be building the very first new luxury condominium project in Dallas since Museum Tower.

And, yes, since the recession.

GGH Development LLC, an affiliate of Canada’s Great Gulf Homes, presented Ltd. Edition/No. 2505 Turtle Creek, a 24-story, 60 unit tower going on a 1.4-acre site at Turtle Creek Boulevard and Fairmount Street. The planned residential building will be designed (as I mentioned last week) by Hariri Pontarini Architects of Toronto.

Chris Wein, Norman and Elly Reisman of GGH told us they have seven condo projects in the works right now in Toronto, from 22 to 75 stories tall. They chose Dallas as their very first real estate venture outside of Canada.

Not New York City, not San Francisco, not even dot com rich Seattle. GGH chose Dallas.

“Why Dallas?” said Geoff Matthews, director of acquisitions and development for Great Gulf. “It’s the key center of economic prosperity in Texas, really in the southwest U.S. You have the Nasher Sculpture Garden, the Arts District, and you submerged a freeway to create more public space.”

Keep the towers coming! That is a great location on Turtle Creek Blvd. That is going to sell quickly. Didn't Canadian investors help build out a lot of downtown Dallas back in the 80s?

The Turtle Creek rendering looks very similar to the previous rendering….nevertheless both look very modern. The design is very MIMO.

With a downtown vacancy rate of 30%, good luck getting a two story 'highrise' much less a million plus square foot building. That BOA will be there for a long time to come.

You could be right. Frankly, the only way this is happening is with a major corporate relocation, but I don't actually see that as being that limiting a factor. Momentum.

Yeah, for sure. I love how all the neighborhoods just north of the Woodall Rodgers and around Turtle Creek are becoming so sumptuous and DENSE. And all so fast as well. Loving every minute of it

Technically it's only 26% but I get what you're saying, it's really high.

The best bet would be to a huge corporate relo, and do a mixed use with maybe residential or hotel.

Who knows, maybe the Mandarin is looking to expand into Dallas again..

I do feel like Dallas is taking a very realistic and proactive approach to its vacancy rate and surface parking.

The Renzo Piano expansion of the Kimbell is nearly finished, opening in a few days.

384 Unit apartment complex going up in Linwood, immediately West of Montgomery Plaza. Construction slated to start January. Demolition of existing houses currently underway.

And then the Left Bank project, between the Trinity,Montgomery and 7th. Demolition is also underway here. Not much else is known about this project currently.
