The three-squared paned windows set in bricks with those strong vertical lines gives a pretty classic deco warehouse look, compare to 7Bayview (actually in Mechanicsville):

I actually don't mind the design. The area is supposed to be artsy and there are a few other brick buildings on Wellington.

An industrial conversion WOULD be a really nice addition to Ottawa though. I've seen a few in the States recently that have embraced the industrial nature of some up and coming neighbourhoods, but I'm not sure we have too many warehouses or old buildings that could be used for that here.

What's "horrible" about "Tamarack Wellington"? Granted that it's not hugely evocative or creative, but it's not inauthentic, cheap or ersatz-New-York either. It's two words, neither of which is ugly, or clashes particularly with the other, and it tells you who makes it and where it is; seems pretty reasonable, to me.

Builder identity politics - that's what! Regardless of what the project looks like, this suburban suburb-builder will surely suburbanize the non-suburban (urban) area!

Some people might be opposed to a suburban builder in Hintonburg due to the stigma of suburban builders.

Thus, they might poo-poo the development sight unseen.

With Andrew King, CDP-respecting height, red brick, replacing a parking lot, etc.; I think this will have about as easy time as any development could hope for (similar to the Eddy).
