Looks like a great win for the Dallas CBD. Once the consolidation is complete, Santander will have 400,000 SF of space leased in Thanksgiving Tower and bring in 1,000 jobs.

What does Perot Group, Hillwood have planned for new HQ?

Although Seattle-based Mithun is in the midst of designing the Perot Group and Hillwood corporate headquarters in the Turtle Creek neighborhood of Dallas, there's already a clear idea for the project.

The high-profile complex -- a 200,000-square-foot office building and 430-car parking structure -- will sit on six-acres of land off Turtle Creek Boulevard, which was an important setting to the Perot family and rooted in the design of the facility, David Goldberg, president of Mithun and project director, told the Dallas Business Journal.

"This is an operational office building for all the family businesses," Goldberg told me. "It will be a modern, highly-productive workplace for Hillwood and the Perot entities that will be housed there."

The new corporate campus will consolidate a number of Perot Group and Hillwood corporate functions in North Texas. Last year, Dallas-based Hillwood Investment Properties selected Mithun through a design competition.

Mithun is the lead design architect, with Dallas-based BOKA Powell as the architect-of-record. Hillwood is developing the project with Balfour Beatty leading the general contracting efforts.

Developer pitches $100M redo of Victory Park
The group behind the redevelopment of Victory Park pitched a $100 million plan on Monday to the City of Dallas in hopes of gaining support and public funds for portions of the project.

Construction is expected to begin in January on a 16-story boutique hotel in Uptown, less than a mile from established inns including the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and Hotel ZaZa.
The 128-room Dream Dallas hotel is scheduled to open on McKinney Avenue near Bowen Street in March or April of 2015, Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, owner of the brand, is expected to announce Friday. The lot is vacant now.

East Dallas is has rapidly and quietly been densifying.

this area has quietly seen a ton of new apartments, condos and townhomes. Particularly on Bennet Street and near Fitzhugh and Central. This is all about a block southwest of Henderson Ave, which is part of the popular night spot, Knox-Henderson, and a few blocks east of the Cityplace area. So its kind of hidden from Freeway or rail, so it doesn't get as much attention as some of the other new urbanist areas. This development would sort of be a gateway as Fitzhugh, which is sort of a main artery linking East Dallas and Old East Dallas has not seen the development of the surrounding streets like Bennet and Henderson, though it is a popular spot for bars and local restaurants and shops unique to East Dallas. The north end of it, near where this development will go in has seen a recent influx of newer night spots.

On the other side of this is the fact that a lot of homes and older apartment complexes have gone down in the densification of this area. The character of this area is definitely going to change. For a good while everything in this vicinity had signs in Spanish or Vietnamese. I wonder which of those elements will survive. The Vietnamese spots seems to be pretty popular with the new element to the neighborhood. I would hope that the Mexican and Salvadoran restaurants can survive this change as well. I've long thought this area would be redeveloped, just curious as to what will survive.

Hey-Would you guys be interested in a separate topic for Fort Worth developments? I know we don't have a lot going on over here, but Dallas is really saturating this thread. FW does'nt really get the same draw on SSP.

I could definitely get it going.

Great. Theres quite a bit going up in uptown, cultural district and trinity river.

Nope, The Texas forum does not even have a Dallas development thread, although Skyscrapercity has both a Dallas and Fort Worth sub forum.

We also need more postings for the suburbs like Houston posters are doing, if we did the Dallas Forum would be as busy as Houston's Forum. There is so much overlooked construction under the Dallas Forum; I wouldn't be surprise if we have just as much construction as they do. I suppose we just don't have enough posters for Dallas.

A Fort Worth thread would be nice. If someone is committed to posting updates, then go for it. When it's done I will change the title of this one.

I hope someone is willing to update this thread regularly as well. Also, if anyone wants to create a development list let me know (unless Owlhorn creates a new list, he can edit his post).

I named the thread to be all encompassing, hoping to lure Fort Worth Posters as well as well as those with more knowledge of the suburban projects. I live in Dallas, so I have more of a perspective on those projects, but I'm sure there are some posters who know about the huge projects going on in Places like Richardson, West Plano/Frisco or Las Colinas. This is one metro after al. All are open to the forum. Participation is what is needed more than separation.

This map shows a lot of the under construction/proposed development within DFW. There are currently 4 pages of developments but if you open it in Google earth, they should all show up together.

Anyone can add to or update it.

Downtown Dallas is covered pretty well on the map but I don't believe there is much shown for Fort Worth.
