That was my first thought too! A concept like this could fly in the downtown core quite well.

If you look at the freshii website, they are an international chain (apparently based in Toronto) with Canadian locations only in greater Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Edmonton. How likely is it that Moncton would be on their radar right now? They do however franchise. I wonder how reliable Ridgpoc's sources are?

Champlain Place Update:

- Laura Secord has closed in preparation for their move to their new location next the Jack & Jones. They will be reopening on October 9th.

- Hallmark has indeed closed. This will leave a block of four soon-to-be-vacant adjacent storefronts (including Laura Secord, Bizou and Fruits & Passion) on a prominent corner of the mall, as all of these other retailers are moving to new locations in the mall. You can't tell me that there isn't something afoot here.......

Champlain Mall

Apparently it is Victoria's Secret going in that location. Sorry guys, another store for women (but then maybe not).

Other forumers had suggested that as a possibility. It would be a good addition since it could be a significant draw for the mall. Any retailer that can add to Moncton's reputation as a regional retail destination is good.

Is your source reliable?

VS is already present in both Halifax & St. John's, so Moncton is definitely in line for a store. There has been some concern expressed that this particular space is too small for VS, but it is possible they only open VS and not PINK just yet. They could wait for another space to open PINK later on.

Indeed, Moncton would appear to be the next logical market in line for a VS here in the east.....

On a related topic, I wonder just how secure Ben Moss Jewellers are in their lease agreement for their existing location at Champlain Place?

Have a look at this image capture from the Champlain Place floor plan:

If you added Ben Moss in with Laura Secord, Bizou, Fruit & Passion and Hallmark, then you really would have a large (and suitably square) retail space totalling 5900 sq ft that would be easily configurable for a national retailer like Victoria's Secret.

Just a thought.

But why would VS go directly in front of its sister company with La Senza but I hope they put a good retailer there.. NOT Another Chick store!!

It's not that uncommon for retailers to do this. It gives the illusion of choice for consumers and the ability to do faux comparison shopping. An example in point would be Future Shop and Best Buy at Dartmouth Crossing, which are just across the street from one another.

Don't forget that up until last year, there was both a La Senza and a La Senza Express at Champlain Place at the same time, which I think made even less sense than having Victoria's Secret and La Senza together.....

If Children's Place decamps, I could see a Forever21, all those stores leaving could open a big opportunity.
How about Ben Moss?

Interesting. If the Children's Place leaves too, then I think you might actually have enough square footage compiled for both Victoria's Secret and PINK. These two stores usually go together. I think this rumour is beginning to develop legs........

I haven't heard anything on Ben Moss, I have a good source so i will share if i find out.

Looks like the new Laura Secord and the new Bizu are set to open tomorrow or very soon after, stores are revealed and are stocked.

From what I've been told, it's gone, GONE.
Your Hallmarks needs will be filled at the Trinity location.

My Uncle is the regional manager of Carlton Cards and told me card stores just didn't really have a place in the mall anymore. They got out of of there sooner the Hallmark, Plus they have space in Walmart anyway. I agreed with him, it's a fashion mall now.

McAllister Place is announcing that Target is opening November 15. I would imagine that the Moncton store will open at the same date.
I only heard rumours, anyone here works at the Moncton Target?

Champlain Place Update:

Both Bizou and Laura Secord have indeed opened in their new locations. They are nice stores, but the Laura Secord location seems a tad smaller and is certainly a lot less conspicuous than their old spot. I hope CF gave them a break on their rent, especially if the move was forced by a desire to consolidate space for a large signature retailer.

also, Bluenotes is relocating to the vacant space between Eddie Bauer and Boathouse. They will apparently open in their new location on November 13th.

Finally, Home Essence is moving into the Hallmark location. This does not threaten the consolidation of adjacent storefronts for the "signature" retailer. Home Essence is nothing more than a placeholder, but I think this is evidence that whatever signature retailer is interested in this corner, that they won't be opening until fall 2014.

Regent Mall's Laura Secord moved last year to a less prominant position as well. Closer to Rocky Mountain granted, but no longer really part of the Food Court like it used to be. (It's now in the middle of a hall). And their new store feels smaller than the wide open corner location they used to have as well, but they seem to be coping well.

Do we know what will be going into the existing Bluenotes location in the mall. And also what Veridoc could do to fill in mapleton center is go after retailers that might be on the Champlian Place waiting list.

It's about time that Bluenotes got a bigger location. And yes this round of Targets all open the same day. I have confirmation on that. So I guess this means November 15th is the big day.
