Looking at those fares to Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Manchester via KEF it's incredible how much lower they are compared to AC and KL via YYC. And the product Icelandair offers this route is gonna do very, very well I suspect.

Seems the demand from Nanaimo to Calgary now has people from Nanaimo requesting service to YEG. Encore is very aware and I expect it will be added in due course.

Yup. I saw it taxi in, as I was waiting for my departure plane to arrive.

As an aside, riddle me this. WTF was it with some chick belting out a bunch of hurtin' C&W music to a backing track on Friday night in the airport? What a hell of a way to arrive in Edmonton. You get off your plane, only to be greeted by the equivalent of C&W karaoke.

Almost made me want to turn around and get on the next plane out of Edmonton. ANYWHERE out of Edmonton.

The Kalitta 747 brought in some oversized "parts" that where required for Suncor. They apparently were promptly loaded on a couple of flatbed semi trucks and shipped off to site.

The music and the singer were atrocious. Truly a WTF welcome to Edmonton. We practically ran away from that area. It hurt the soul to hear such trash in an airport.

I wonder how it's affecting loads out of Comox. WestJet may inadvertently cannibalize their own route. It wouldn't surprise me to see a Nanaimo-YEG route followed by a reduction in service to Comox from mainline to Encore too. Be careful what you wish for.

Easy there, sounds like you are being a bit over dramatic.

Actually, I thought I was holding back. I can honestly say our blood pressure went through the roof and the quickness of our step became a power walk.

Had a chance to get a Good Look at work at EIA. (When your flight aborts on the runway you have time to look around) It looks like the North Terminal is getting a reclad along the airside. I know the work on the inside is still on hold.
There is a new emergency services or airport service building going in along the north Apron. A hell of a lot of Flight centre and cargo ramp expansions going on. Seems everywhere you look something is being built.

The colored panels are looking good, it adds some much need color to the building/terminal.

^ That makes sense, I was trying to figure out what was going on there at the North Terminal.

Regarding Nanaimo, it would be a very good fit for YEG as there is a lot of demand between the island and here. If it means Comox being reduced to Encore, is that a concern? I would think having more flight options to the Vancouver Island would be more beneficial than 737 service.

On another note, UAL continues to shuffle their planes on all routes particular IAH and DEN. DEN at the moment is on CRJ200's but jump to Feb and they place mainline back on for 3 weeks around 4pm.

It will be interesting to see how UAL/AC respond if AA does indeed enter our market in 2014. From pricing and flight schedules right now I believe you can see why the government was worried about a joint venture between UAL/AC, they seem to be making some good "coin" off the demand in YEG to their hubs.

I predict 2x daily to DFW on AA morning/afternoon departures may see YEG gain a 3rd daily to IAH on UAL.
