It's alright, I guess. It obviously lacks effort in design, but it will replace what is downtown's most henious empty lot with two 120m towers. On the southern edge of the lot, row houses will be built and this will fix overdale street's urban fabric. The historic papineau residence, the home of one of Canada's founding fathers, will be renovated and integrated in the project.

So yes the design is somewhat skittish and the height is underwhelming, BUT this will go a long way revitalizing the decrepit downtown west side.

Wow you'd think Montreal is trying to give Calgary a run for its money lately with all these twins popping up. I think this design would work better as 1 tower. The two together look more rigid and stout. Whereas alone I think it would be a bit more dynamic. Glad to hear about the restoration of the Papineau residence.

It's funny because the rational of it being better than an empty parking lot is the same one that's tossed around here all the time. In the end that is true, but it doesn't improve the design.

The blighted area around Longueuil metro station is finally starting to see some more development. They're planning on rebuilding the metro terminal with some towers on top. The Triovest, a 160 million dollar project, today we have some preliminary renders of it.


Earlier this month we also saw the new and enhanced SSQ office tower project, which would be built right next to triovest:



In the same area they're already building these residential towers.


The Longueuil metro vicinity is really starting to kick it into high gear!

This is excellent news. The SSQ Tower will be located along the boulevard (where the Bixi rack is) next to the building under construction (Axces). The new Triovest towers will be located to the left of the Université de Sherbrooke and will effectively block most of the view from this angle of Canada's ugliest apartment tower.

This project is slated to go in the parking lots on the right side of the picture and includes a cultural complex that will host the Longueuil Symphony and the a theatre company (this image is oriented in the opposite direction of the photograph above).

The Globe and Mail have announced they will be moving to a new home named the Globe and Mail Centre at 351 King Street East. They will be occupying the top 5 floors

That probably has a lot to do with it being located right next to Montreal.

If Mississauga and North York can develop skylines so can Laval and Longeuil. Heck, even Dartmouth can.
