Let us have some fun and speculate before everbody gets too negative, It's not everday that we have the possiblity of a new tallest in the peg? Tommorow we can start criticizing it. There's always the New Blue Bomber Stadium thread to critique finished projects in the City? (**)

That would be a complete let down to so many resulting in people giving up on the idea of them even being serious.

Re CancerCare expansion at HSC, it will be interesting to see if it als evolves into taking over the old Women's Hospital on Notre Dame.

my thoughts exactly. PR hype machine or not, that is one nice rendering and will do so much needed good for that area.

It will be built in the place of the building across from the existing CancerCare building (I forget the name of it). That building will be torn down. It is possible that the services in the building to be torn down will be placed in a new building where the old Women's Hospital currently stands.

The whole project is on hold pending review. It grew too large too fast. Over $500 million before the brakes slowed it down.

Seems like it's an almost Winnipeg rendering.

Fortress Tower

I had submitted the name SkyPoint a while back. Looking at that render it actually has a point! I thought of SkyPoint as a key point in the skywalk system. Being the tallest building in the city and a point of interest (amenities) in the downtown also make the name appropriate.

Or Eraserhead, for that funky top bit. (Not that it wouldn't be pretty darn impressive in the skyline)

While this tower is still far from a sure thing, the fact that they purchased the land certainly lends more credibility to the whole project.

well ofcourse the scale and design of the project isnt for sure.. but atleast now we now at the end of the day something will end up being built at that location.

i just want all these projects to get going already specifically

glasshouse
project w
d condos
art gallery expansion
wcc hotel and expansion

alt hotel and herritedge landing will add to the core.. but wont make much a difference without all these other projects getting goin

Jeez I completely forgot about the art gallery expansion! Does anybody know when we might get to see the design?

It's the Isabel M Stewart building. Also known as the Nursing Building.

The old women's hospital, parkade and former laundry building will most likely be torn down a few years after the new Women's hospital is up and operational.
