169 was pretty good until BC MoT sort of screwed it up now it always stuck in traffic...

Now I preferred 160 and bypass SkyTrain all together, but that would be a pass-up fest if you take the wrong bus during the wrong time... Definitely don't want to bother with it during the next 2 weeks, as it pretty much have less than half the capacity required to serve PNE demand

You complain about people nitpicking BCs highways

But you sir are one of the worst offenders for wearing rose colored glasses. Please take them off.

One picture shows a cement cap, the other shows a piece of wood slapped on with a Canadian flag mounted to the front. One of these things is not like the other

Only a few minutes faster each way than the 321...

Take a look at the map, weird turnaround near Guildford.

http://infomaps.translink.ca/Public_Timetables/92/tt335.pdf

Meanwhile the 335 sees two evening run cuts. 8:50pm run leaves Surrey Central 10 min earlier, and the 9:20pm run is completely cut. Big blow for residents along 160th.

The weird turn-around is how the buses will turn around to head back to newton, since there isn't a bus loop at Guildford. I'm not sure why they included it in the route map, because the bus will do that loop while NIS with no passengers on board.

I do not want to have yet another card in my wallet for these occasional journeys.

It is not unreasonable to expect a system that accepts cash at any of its boarding points to honor that ticket when transferring.

Translink must accommodate these customers. Its up to them to figure out how, but saying there is no solution except buying a card is not acceptable.
If I visit Vancouver on a weekday I have the choice of buying a daypass (compass ticket) or paying two zone fares twice to get from the ferry downtown. So to travel to downtown it would cost me $8 and return to the ferry $5.50. Or I could buy a day pass for $9.75 saving $3.75 on the return trip.

From Buzzer blog:
Quote:
To David – Visitors to Vancouver also have the option to purchase a Compass ticket (not the same as the Compass Card), which is essentially the same thing as the DayPass we have now. They will have access to the full transit system for a day. This option will be viable to visitors who are only here for a few days, or a short time.

Regarding the transit referendum: rather than yes-no, couldn't the question be worded something like this:
Which of the following mechanisms do you support in order to provide necessary infrastructure funding for public transportation in the Lower Mainland?
a) Vehicle registration levies;
b) Additional gasoline levies; or
c) A regional sales tax.

In other words, why include a 'no' option?

So they can say people don't want to pay for Transit and say "we tried to get funding, but the people said they didn't want to fund transit"

The South Surrey Park and Ride expansion is nearly complete. When it opens, the South Surrey P&R will have a total of at least 781 parking stalls. Anyone want to bet how long it will take for it to reach capacity, again?

Another Question about the referendum will it be:

50%+1 to pass

Or as the referendum law states a 2\3 majority for a suuccessful referendum.

Thanks for the great shots, Tfreder! I've driven by a few times found the configuration interesting. Do you know how it'll work with the traffic flow? Are buses going to be picking up and dropping off in the new side of the P&R or are people just going to have to trek to and from the existing side?

Given that there will likely be multiple options to vote for, it'll likely be a simple majority rather than either of those. And due to idiots from outside of Metro Vancouver, it'll probably end up being 'do nothing' since that will likely be the only right-wing/'no more taxes' option.

The right wing / no more taxes group, needs to 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 die Bunch of stuck up 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 in my opinion.

It is because of those 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 that we are in the mess we are today.

I am also interested in the answer to this question. It appears that there is a sidewalk underneath the overpass- perhaps it links to the other side? I'm surprised that they didn't just make a crosswalk across KGB.

The buses will still be using the current loop; the expansion only includes parking stalls.

The road under the KGB overpass is the main link between the current lot and the new one. This is how people will walk to the bus stop. Currently, there's no way for people to walk across KGB from the new lot because the entire parking lot is surrounded by a large black fence.

I forgot to mention this, but the on-ramp that connects southbound KGB to highway 99 southbound includes what I assume to be a one-way connection to the new lot.

If you want to blame somebody, I'd say it's Glen Clark and the NDP of the late 90s that created Translink and its weak funding models.

The crux of the problem is not that though. It is this mind set that has been going on around the world for the past 30-40 years. That lower taxes is better. As a society we have driven ourselves into a corner. By having governments constantly trying to get lower and lower taxes. Which has caused them to have less and less funds for improvements and to run government services.

Ok, that's way out of the scope of this discussion. I'd argue the right-wing swing you mention has only been going on for the last 10-15 years. Whether we've "driven ourselves into a corner" is up for much debate.
