Yeah man. Winnipeg is making a LOT of interesting improvements. I'm not sure which I am more excited for, the Zoo expansion/arctic exhibit, convention centre, or the CMHR.

Yeah, it was for the initial burn(mentioned in the thread some where), It won't be fully lit till the opening, but it looks nice..

1-CMHR (can't miss it, when they light it up)
2- Zoo/ Journey to Churchill ( Gonna be great)
3- Convention Centre (Still a few years away in completion time)

Love those pics..nice view in the tower of hope.

The part of York Avenue near the CMHR has been renamed "Mahatma Gandhi Way."

If your going to add an honourary title to a street in close proximity the the CMHR , M Ghandi Way is a good choice ! Thx for the link Chad.

Ps: Did a part in a movie with Sir Ben, "You kill me",(ironic) great guy doing Ghandi and all..sorry wrong thread,you just brought me back..

im getting a tour in a few weeks....cant wait to see it inside again....was at the war museum last week....stunning building outside...an uninspired box inside with nothing but things to read....ours will be different i think...the spaces will inspire.

Even when going down provencher, the glass facade with the marble (I think?) bridges zig-zagging through the building is enough to drop a jaw. The garden of contemplation should just be absolutely stunning.

I know the pictures can't really show it but it looks like the building has nothing but corridors - are there rooms? lol

You are most definitely right, pictures don't do it justice. My most recent tour was two months ago and the space inside is incredible. You could spend all day taking pictures of the ramps, angles, light and shadows. The volume of the area inside the glass cloud is immense. every room and theatre inside is different and unique. I think, on top of the beautiful spaces inside, the thing I was most amazed at was its sheer size. This is truly where pictures cannot in any way convey the way it feels in reality. It is truly massive.

I can't wait to go back and see some of the fit-out finishes.

When I look at it, I can't help but she someone flipping the bird. From the way the building "wraps" around that looks like fingers of a hand with the middle one out stretched.

But its great. The tower looks unfinished though. Is that by design? I was hoping they'd add a spotlight to the top like they had in New York and Vegas.

Actually, the stone is Alabaster so that the under-lighting can shine through the stone. Marble is completely opaque unfortunately. I don't know if they're using any substantial amount of marble. But there will be a lot of Alabaster and Granite I think.
