This is a very good observation. Perhaps those in this forum who are creative and better (computer) skilled can create an ariel image with hypothetical towers on both a compact and spread out basis. I have seen someone's ability on either SSP or SSC who did excellent hypothetical images as view by drivers on the 10 and 110 fwys.

I haven't done a Metrolink to Metro transfer myself, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
This is true. And the ticket has the TAP logo on the top front, in case there's any doubt.

About time. I heard rumors that a new pyramidal courthouse might take over that location.

[QUOTE=BrighamYen;6239756]A new cultural center headquarters for the SoCal Teo-Chew Association will be starting construction in Chinatown next door to the Jia Apartments.

Good. We need more Chinese architecture in Chinatown... and also more authentic Chinese restaurants.

Your welcome guys! I didn't get a photo of the Courtyard because there really wasn't any external changes. Hope you guys enjoyed it!

Nice job, though the Wilshire/Vermont towers are not in downtown.

Impressive bit of walking you did there, Mojeda. Great work! Things are starting to get exciting at 8th and Hope.

Great update as usual Mojeda!

It's disgusting how freaking huge the parking podium at Wilshire and Vermont is! This type of development should be banned in Los Angeles.

I'd be curious if there is actually more space dedicated to parking in that project than there is to actual living space. It sure looks like it. Parking structures have jumped the shark.

I had the same immediate impression. This type of design which includes that amount of parking is now anachronistic in many areas of the city, especially across the street from a rapid transit station. If the city required this--shame on them, if the developer required it --so be it, waste your money.

Modejeda,
as usual job well done. Is it my imagination or does the Hope side facade of 8th and Hope appear to be more articulated then seen in the latest rendering? On the Wood Partnership website the final rendering (as well as most of the company's projects) is so bland.

True but this undermines transit ridership and adds to the cost of housing, making it less affordable.

There is far too much parking, especially since this is very close to a subway station, but perhaps they can use this for shared-parking with other new developments if many of the spaces go unused.

A good junk of these spaces have got to be set aside for public parking. Otherwise this wouldn't make sense. Park and ride. This could also benefit all the surrounding old apartment buildings, many of which don't have any parking at all. But yeah, even so, this is a little over the top.

If I recall correctly, the ground floor of the Vermont is supposed to include a full sized grocery store. That's probably one of the contributing factors to the excessive parking accommodations.
