Bids close for Third Avenue United Church

The future of Third Avenue United Church will hopefully crystallize over the coming week.
The church board’s building committee will be considering proposals for the purchase of the historic downtown church, after bids closed on Thursday.
The committee will begin looking at the bids starting Friday morning, said Peter Barnacle, the church board’s chair. It will bring a recommendation to the next board meeting on Aug. 21 and the board will consider that recommendation and make its own decision, which will be taken to the River Bend Presbytery for approval on Aug. 22.
“It won’t be until that point that we would be able to say with any certainty that there is a conclusion,” Barnacle said.
As of Thursday afternoon, the board had received one bid from Third Avenue Centre and was expecting at least one more by the end of the day. [...]
