Took a bike ride downtown to see the progress Centrepoint and the convention center expansion. Ill post some pictures when I get the chance.

I agree. Something like that certainly would draw the attention of patrons walking through the MTS Centre's concourses.

That was a great spot to get dropped of for events. Why would the city discourage that? Now people will stop in the traffic lane and back up traffic. Make little to no sense as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly. Now there are a number of parking ticket people lined up along Donald who quickly photograph you and write a ticket if you stop. So far I've been too fast for them...

Correct. There was one that was built with the MTS Centre but it was recently eliminated. Why? Because it was a stupid thing to do, and this is Winnipeg.

Or because they wanted to widen the sidewalk and make a better pedestrian atmosphere. Maybe they wanted to encourage people to have to walk from a drop off point at a distance.

Ever try to catch a cab coming out of there? Legally, there's only space for a couple of Prius's across Donald and across Graham on Hargrave.

The point is that they had a perfect drop-off site and they ruined it for some reason. There is now nowhere for light deliveries, employee drop/pick-up, taxis to wait etc. - and there was a perfect place.

I no longer bother trying to understand.

Agreed.

I believe the whole drop-off issue is much ado about nothing, complaining for the sake of complaining, etc.

You don't understand. Humans are only designed to walk about 40 meters from a car to a door. We need a drop-off site and lots of parking lots right beside everything, always.
