Calgary better step up it's game. Edmonton was looking really good when I was there. We need more landscaping in Calgary.

A Parkinson's Disease support centre billed as the first of its kind in Canada will be built in Edmonton thanks to a $5 million donation.

Edmonton's Buchanan family is behind the project which will be built near Commonwealth Stadium.

General location seems odd. There aren't any sizeable health operations elsewhere in the area, are there?

If its right across the street from Commonwealth it will be good to see that lot finally get eaten up. And for a very good reason. Health center is about 4 or 5 blocks east.

Well, there's the Family/Urgent Care clinic just several blocks to the East and the Royal Alex about a dozen blocks to the West.

My Guess is either the empty lot on the south side of 111 ave between the esks office and the gas station. It always been fenced off and for some reason who ever owns it doesn't allow parking in it during stadium events. Always seemed incredibly foolish.

Eastwood is to the east, but this does not need to be near a health centre to be effective. This is more a support services facility for persons with PD and their families. So it should be central and close to transit. PD affects each person differently so it has various services under one roof which is great. I look forward to the day it opens and I for one will donate to the facility. They are looking for an additional 2 million; I think that is doable without government help.

Great news for us in particular, mum-in-law has had Parkinsons for the past 10 years, and lately has started getting a lot worse

Nothing has come through us about the exact location yet.. Although still sitting on the patio at Bridge Lake so haven't checked in with the office for a few weeks

Went past the Century Park site this past weekend. Does anyone know if they are going to start the taller towers in the near future? There are a lot of vacant lots in the area now.

Absolutely no sort of preliminary site work or surveying has been done from what I have seen. The only activity I have seen is them sending in crews to clear out the bush-sized weeds there. That being said, they were looking at getting the park and ride moved recently.

For the same construction costs, I bet you can make a much larger margin downtown. Why risk in Century Park?
