My brother takes the Barnet to work everyday. I'm sure I'll be hearing a rant from him soon.

I loving seeing a subway/skytrain line in its infancy. Can't wait until it's finished.

^I take Barnet daily and it seems the worst of it is over. Nothing really too bad, they just have traffic down to 40km/h and make you do a big crescent instead of just driving straight like before. I haven't had any traffic issues there but I don't use it during rush hour.

Lougheed station bus loop will be closed on Aug 5th for Evergreen Line construction.

Map of the temporary bus loop.

Seems like the Port Mann express bus would either stay at Braid till late 2014, or is going to use bay 2, with the C9 moved to one of bay 4-8?

Someone needs to setup a server that grabs a snapshot at noon each day and when they take the camera down it can be compiled into a youtube timelapse.

If you go to the camera page, after choosing "north Portal camera", there are three choices for cameras there - try "North Portal Construction"

From Translink's website, effective September 2nd:

Quote:
#128 Braid Station/22nd Street Station - Service formerly called the 154, will now be #128 - This route will now operate leaving 22nd Street Bay #3 and traveling on 8th Avenue. It formerly utilized 6th Avenue corridor.

#159 Port Coquitlam Station/Braid Station - #177 bus services are being discontinued. As a result, a portion of the 159 will be extended to travel into the United Boulevard area to service Planet Ice, shops and businesses.

Braid Station Bay Assignment Changes to Note:

Bay 3 – 791 Haney Place
Bay 4 – 555 Carvolth Exchange
Bay 5 – 153 Coquitlam Rec Centre & 156 Lougheed Station
Bay 6 – 128 22nd Street Station & 155 22nd Street Station
Looks like the 555 is getting its own bay, should prevent the massive lineups currently found in the current configuration during afternoon peak.

In the vicinity of the Burquitlam station itself, there was another hole beside that vertical construction equipment in the photo, so I think they need to put one more column.

I passed by the area the other day last week and at that time, they were just the steel rebars in place, but one of the columns at the "former Korean restaurant" site had that blue form thingy wrapped around it. I did have a chance to park and take photos using my Samsung....but for some reason shyness took over...

As opposed to the very neutral and professional Canada Line Photography blog, the Burquitlam Station blog seems more like a resident's documentary of the subject and is more political about opposing the increased density in the Burquitlam area without proper provision for services.

Its a pity that we don't have any dedicated source for Evergreen Line construction photo updates other than this blog. The ones from EGRT or the Evergreen Line Facebook take forever to update, chances are someone from this forum would have provided better photos already.

And its ironic that those webcams are located in areas that don't show much progress. Currently, the Burquitlam area is the most visible in terms of activity and progress, though you can't really ignore the Ioco area since changes there are quite drastic. And I think the most progress is still in Barnet, but its so inaccessible and can't be seen.

I guess this will be more visible once Lougheed Station and North Road really get going, then early next year on the Pinetree Way area...

It would be a dream to see the Evergreen Line videographed as in-depth as Expo originally was. After all, when this line is finished it completes all of the originally proposed routes from the original Greater Vancouver Rapid Transit Project 30 years ago. Most people really doubted that we would see much expansion past Scott Road.
It's also one of the best way to show what your taxes are going into without dealing with some guy in a suit showing you prepared presentations which is INCREDIBLY boring.

I am glad that the OMC2 facility is going to be used. That was always a disappointment to see it empty and disconnected.

Gives me the impression the photographer was too scared of the area to get out out of their car to take the snaps.

It's Burquitlam. There's really nothing to be scared of around there. They probably either couldn't or did not want to get out of the car.

And hey, if you guys don't like the quality of the pictures, you can always get out there yourselves and take your own.

But its so dirty and dusty....

Seriously though, while it is easier for someone to leave the car beside the station, its actually a lot harder on the other side of Clarke Road (where you can see the additional columns) because the people in the businesses in the area give you a bad look when you park at their lot but not enter their store.

It also take some effort, and I actually did try a few times to park at that Subway and KFC but its always full for some reason. But if the opportunity presents itself, I'll take some.

Don't worry, the whole area will be redeveloped soon enough.

Since there seems to be a demand for pictures...

Burquitlam station support column construction.

Drilling for final column before crossing over Clark:

Columns crossing over near Como Lake on Clark:

Transition column construction prior to South Portal Entrance:

Prep work around Inlet Center Station:

A couple other notes:

Around the future Moody Center station they are demo old buildings to make room for the tracks/station. Also clearing away trees down the rail right-of-way.

They have partially closed the bus loop at Lougheed, and are beginning to erect scaffolding around the columns for the station expansion. Column construction will work towards Lougheed from Burquitlam, so nothing besides the past road widening has been done atm.

Fantastic update Elysia17! Now it feels like the thread's on the right track. I'm actually surprised at how far along some sections already are.
