After a meagre attempt at sales, the whole project just sort of faded away. It predates the current generation of downtown condo construction, so it would have been a pretty unusual and bold project by the standards of that time. I don't recall who the developer was, but I do remember the design was roundly criticized around here (even though the idea of a residential development there was pretty popular). Of course, had it been built I'm sure it would have ended up looking a lot different, probably with some healthy dollops of stucco as was common practice then.

With the new Project W going up on the next block and the other developments in the area, I would think that site could be developed with something better than that now.
Yeah. It was an old post (construction 2). It's saddening because that could have been build, or something similar, instead of the still standing decrepit one story Antique shop.
You may be right about the new project slated just south. If I remember correctly (it was in the news a while ago), the province was to buy out the Woodbine as one of the many downtown hotels they want to shut down. Dunno if that's a "no touch" heritage building though, or if they can tear that whole block down beside Fox and Fiddle. ???
