I did look at the actual data! What is the data you are pulling out and where are you pulling it out from?

The situation might be becoming something different in the past decade, but that decade don't build towers like what is being described.

The situation might be becoming something different in the past decade, but that decade don't build towers like what is being described.

It would be hard to compare because of how the two countries define their metro areas. I figured Edmonton and Tampa could be a comparison, with Tampa having about 4 towers taller than anything in Edmonton despite Edmonton having twice as many highrises. Then I looked at their metros, and Tampa has 2.8 million.

I hope you're not taking the average height of buildings in the metro area to define "taller" because obvisouly high-rise density (which no one would argue is higher in the states) skews statistics. I'm talking about on average, U.S. cities of similar size will have at least one tower taller than their Canadian counterpart. I don't see how else to prove this other than providing examples, unless you want to find the average height of the tallest building in 500,000 metros in the U.S. and Canada and compare.

Of course I am. When you argue that a a city is taller it insinuates the height of its buildings, not one building in particular.

Well therein lies our problem. I've already made it quite clear that I do accept that Canadian cities have much higher DENSITY of high-rises which obviously skews the statistics when compared to most american cities which have have a tall core and not much else.

It'd be like saying that a basketball team comprised of 5 starters and 10 guys on the bench who are all six feet tall is taller than a team who has 5 starters who are all 6' 6" with ten guys on the bench who are all 5 feet tall. Sure on average the 6 foot team is taller, but the guys who play most of the minutes, the ones who are in the limelight every game and that people use to compare to other teams, are much taller.
