There's no relief in sight for drivers snarled in Yellowhead Trail traffic because high costs mean an overhaul of one of the city's busiest corridors isn't likely to happen for years.
There has been a plan since 2011 to turn the commuter and truck route into a smooth-flowing freeway with limited access and no traffic signals, but councillors said Wednesday the price could be prohibitive.
"We can't just open the wallets and spend probably four to five billion dollars to fix it along the way," Mayor Stephen Mandel said following a closed-door transportation committee discussion of a proposed 149th Street interchange...
