I seem to recall people saying that Brooklyn-style density was the target for this area. Brooklyn as a whole has higher density than this area. I did a little digging and the area of North Center Chicago has a density of 5900 people/sq km. If you google pictures of North Center, some very nice examples of what we may be able to expect pop up. And like I said in my last post, the housing options seem diverse there.
Here's an example:
So basically I want her and anyone else who's complaining about squeezing more people in to remember that cities across the world have done it and continue to do it all the time and it seems to be working out well for them.

I agree with you, if there's going to be redevelopment in that central area of the city, it should be of a higher density including rental, retail, condo developments. The city has mandated to increase infill development and this is a prime spot to exhibit this. Unless the area can reach a population threshold to entice residency with local introduction of successful businesses such as grocery stores, then this development won't succeed.
Pat Lorje has been a detrimental fixture in the city ever since she came back to Saskatoon after not being able to make it in California. She has NIMBY views and is anti-development. She wanted to have tolls applied to Circle Dr North bridge & the proposed North Parkway Bridge, but never considered a similar toll for the new South Circle Dr bridge near her ward. She was against River Landing and the Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan. So its not surprising she is against the North Downtown Development as well. This all while she has been protesting that city councillors should be paid an even higher salary then they already get paid($51,000) which is much higher than Regina Councillor salaries ($33,000). This may not fit her view of who should be living in the 'Ghetto' development she so despises.
