AIMCO tower went to EDC on the 18th. Anyone know the outcome? When do they post their thingy's online? Or was this one closed to the public?

Pretty hard to do sub 200 in new concrete, even wood.

any market that still expects to buy sub 200k units in new build high rise shouldn't be surprised when the supply side is either low/mediocre quality wise at best or outright non-existent (other than the "from $---" loss leader come-on in the advertising). you probably can't build them for that, never mind develop and sell and make a reasonable return for that...

Yeah, you aren't going to get granite, or much for amentities, or fancy exteriors. But not every building has to be a showcase.

there's only one mid rise in the herald today and it's "from the 270's". and the realtors' sites don't show anything in new/decent high rise below 250... this one's typical: http://www.jimsparrow.com/downtown-calgary.php?sortorder=ASC-ListingPrice

New construction, concrete, sub-200k? The only way I can see that is with 400 sq. ft. bachalor units, and event then, the ROI doesn't seem to be there if we are talking $400-450 sq.ft.

The outcome only comes out in the meeting minutes, which get approved at the next meeting. So at least 2 weeks out.

I just watched Ewasuk's piece on CTV.
Yes it is indeed the AIMCo tower on the former Manulife II site.
Apparently what will spur the go-ahead for this is if they win the City of Edmonton bid.
