Could hear walking above me, and even people flushing their toilets ... ahem. It was filled with kids in their 20s who were still in the partying stage of life. Curious to know the demographic moving into the Strathmore, if anyone knows. Thanks
I'm an investor in the project, my Dad and my brother are the guys running the project. They'd gladly take you for a tour of the building, their contact info can be found on the website:

As for the demographic, it will be a mixed bag. A couple of the units will be rented out, most of the renters and buyers so far are young professionals although there have been several retired people that have looked at the building. 11 of the 24 units have sold; with 13 units still available the demographics will likely change.

The first possessions happen this week so if you want to buy you'll be able to move in almost immediately.

The Strathmore

Just talked to my brother, they sold another condo today, bringing the total sold to 12, with 12 condos remaining. The first owner moved into his condo yesterday, which is also very exciting.

I was going to mention that area of Albert St. has been designated "The Green Mile" by the city, as a commemoration to our favourite CFL team, Saskatchewan Roughriders, after their last Grey Cup win in 2007! That win resulted in thousands of fans gathering initially in the streets at the intersection of Albert St. and Victoria Ave. in a what became a giant, festive, celebration, with vehicle traffic passing very slowly and stalling (because of all the pedestrian traffic mixed into the jam of fans in their cars driving to take part in the gathering) all the back to 23rd Ave. along Albert St. (I was driving in that traffic jam, getting high-fived window-side by strangers wandering about in their celebrations, but I finally turned off early, knowing I wasn't getting anywhere very fast!), with the celebrations lasting throughout much of the night!

Not a bad thing, and city-wide gatherings outside of the stadium like that are rare occurrence, but the Riders keep turning up pleasant, often exciting surprises for their fans! We'll have to see what this year's football season holds! ...

Sweet! We have the Sens Mile for the Ottawa Senators on Elgin Street where there's several pubs and restaurants. I really love how proud Regina has become and how much it's developed. Saskatchewinners

I'm very proud that I'm from Regina and hope to come back soon

A few quick updates from a walk I took today...

At the corner of Lorne and 11th, the work seems to actually be progessing at a very quick pace (especially considering the amount of rain-days we had recently):

That whole intersection was a torn up mess a few days ago.

The new addition/hall being built onto St. Paul's Cathedral downtown:

(My apologies for the finger that got in the way; I'm too lazy to crop it... stupid cell phone cameras)

And a few of the Capital Pointe site... The board sections closest to the two buildings (NCO Building and Bregg Drycleaning) are painted white, so I assume the rest will be too:

It really does seem like the new ownership group is rather serious/gung-ho on this project. As sceptical as I am now, if I continue to see progress like I'm seeing, they'll make a believer of me yet.

It also makes me wonder if they will want to try and develop more properties in Regina, since something that is well-organized and not plagued with delays can actually be fairly successful (CSP, GoR).

Fourthtower, please link to the articles you are posting. It's bad form to copy the entire article. You should post a link and then a brief summary in your own words. By posting the entire article and then no link, you are depriving the Leader-Post of website views which deprives them of money.

It's bad form.

On topic, it looks like they've chosen route F in this PDF:

If you copy and paste press releases or articles and don't link to them, you are preventing us from A) knowing if it's true (since how do we know you didn't just type it up if we can't view the source?) and B) supporting the site that put it out.

So start posting links to the articles you copy. Or better yet, don't copy the text, as it makes you look like a thief who is stealing content with attribution. Do you want the LP and other papers to keep putting out stories that we read? Then link to them and stop copying their articles.

On topic, here is an image of the accepted route vs Wascana Village. It looks like it might not overlap after all, though would still be stuck inside the route:

I was walking through the Plaza downtown yesterday and was able to actually walk through and look around finally. I know there have been complaints; whether from drivers who arent used to this sort of driving area or from residents in regards to it not being used to its full potential. These are my thoughts:

The city has built a new walkable foundation. Not awful, but not complete and definitely not to its full potential. The City has invested in the basic infrastructure at this point. As well, the city did cut back on certain elements of the project due to budget issues.

However:

If Harvard builds a 4th tower on the old Novia Cafe spot, it needs to have complete front retail/restaurant/patio space. Why can't they lure a national restaurant chain like Earls, Milestones, Browns or Joey's to make a large presence. Maybe even a 2 floor restaurant in the first 2 floors of ther new tower.

The square needs some/or a major water feature, I think the stage is an awful spot for a fountain as it should be more centralized in the square and draw people around it. A spray pad for children is also something to draw families to the park.

The brick is beautiful (i really love it) but because it is grey along with all the concrete edging, visually it is overwhelmingly bland, so I think the city needs to beautify the space with garden beds, more trees, any maybe some more public art installations.

The city has done the basics, now we need investment again from the city and private sector in regards to adding on the "apps" to make it more usable and interesting.

Also, Scarth street mall should be re-bricked with the same stone as the plaza. I was really surprised at how poor the sidewalks and streets and curbs are looking there as well as around downtown. Surfaces are crumbling, uneven and just looking poorly maintained. One example of an eyesore would be the corner of the TD building. Absolute brutal that the sidewalks surrounding that building have fallen to that state. There are also little or no trees.

Exactly. Here are the requirements:

When posting an article please include the following information:
- the title of the article,
- the author's name,
- the name of the publication,
- the date of publication,
- a URL to the original article,
- only the first few sentences or the first paragraph of the article (not the entire article).

Generally speaking most sites want similar, with at least the link and the first few sentences only (or a brief summary).

The point is that you need to post the link, and not copy the entire release/article. It not only breaks the rules here, but is in poor taste as it deprives other sites of views and money.
