Just wondering if that's a blue protective film on the glass? Would account for the dull purple appearance. If not, then yeah, it's kind of disappointing, but...
I'm betting on the film, as it's often left on glass during construction.
The glass continues - I think lighting and angle will have a big effect on the sharpness of the orange. When I drove by and hour before I took these two it looked better.
I was expecting something a little more vibrant myself, like what they used on the city centre atlantic addition, the orange on that place looks FANTASTIC. But from the pictures, the deep, rich orange doesn't look too bad.. I'll haev to make final judgement when I see it in person on a sunny day
I think that judging a building that isn't complete is a bit like tasting food before it's fully cooked. It's a bit early to tell how it will look and or taste :-) I've definitely done this myself as well and sometimes you can have a pretty good picture of the finished product early on and other times not.
I think it's looking great! Good job Halifax! I hope Calgary's new one can be that nice!

Mohkínstsis — 1.6 million people at the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains, 400 high-rises, a 300-metre SE to NW climb, over 1000 kilometres of pathways, with 20% of the urban area as parkland.
This is hands down the best angle of this building I've seen, and probably the best one that exists. It really shows how much this will add to that intersection.
Anyone using instagram can check out some neat photos of the library from the user "mandevillain". He has a couple of shots inside the building including one of the view of the Citadel from the cantilever "living room".
It was finally sunny on the weekend so I got this picture to see if the Orange looks different in the sun:
You mean if the purple looks more orange in the sun? Because there's nothing even remotely orange in any of these pics. I can't understand how they could have screwed up something so simple.
Maybe I am stating the obvious here, but the exposure that most of the photos above are showing are the East exposure, and a few of the South exposure. If memory serves, all of the renderings show the North, West and South exposures, but not so much the East. Likely, the east exposure has utility areas, bathrooms etc, which is why it is mostly spandrel panel with the orange glass, which will not cast light the way plain orange glass would. You can also see spandrel on the South exposure at the top and bottom where it overlaps the slabs, etc.
I suspect that the North and West exposures will look like what is on the South now, with the top & bottom appearing 'purple' and the main portion of the glass having the more vibrant orange color. It should look pretty good especially on sunny days & when it is back-lit at night. The east wall may not be special, but I think the rest should be better.
