There was a post on this in the Halifax subforum. I thought you guys might be interested:

Pacrim, Driftwood launch partnership in bid to build $100m in new properties

A partnership between two hotel management companies could see the construction of $100 million in new hotels in Atlantic Canada in the next five years.

The joint venture announced Monday means Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc. of Bedford and Driftwood Hospitality Management, LLC of Miami will target new growth opportunities across Canada, but particularly on the Atlantic coast.

New 100- to 300-room full-service and extended-stay properties are being planned in the Bedford-Sackville area, as well as near Fredericton, Argentia, N.L., St. John’s, N.L., Goose Bay, N.L., and Golden, B.C.

“We have agreements in all of these markets,” Pacrim chief executive officer Glenn Squires said in a telephone interview from New York City, where he is attending the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference

“We’ve identified partners … to go ahead.”

Yes I noticed this in The Telegram this week. They're planning to start the Goose Bay and St. John's hotels later this year, but wouldn't reveal the location for the St. John's one.

It would be nice to get a few more hotels near the airport. However, if the St. John's hotel is going to be big (and beautiful), I would hope they could try and scout some land in west downtown

There was a three story hotel proposal mentioned for international place (o think that's what it's called) right off majors path by that new office building. Maybe that is it.

You realize it would take hours to find the minutes in which I could quote exactly what O'Leary said re Margaret's Place. I have no clue how long ago she made her comments. I would have to read through all of the minutes. It's literally not worth my time to try to prove anything to you. Give the antagonization a rest.

Here's an article about Margaret's Place from two years ago, in which some of these issues were mentioned:

http://www.thetelegram.com/News/Local/20...esidents-losing-faith,-says-councillor/1

It's not too dense, it's just that some of the planning was not great.

I googled it last night, quite easily, because I knew you'd have a comment to make.

Quote:
"Councillor O’Leary outlined a number of issues which include traffic impact, lack of sidewalks, inadequate parking, high density of the area..."
http://www.stjohns.ca/sites/default/files/files/minutes/Regular%20Meeting%20July%2012%202011pdf.pdf

I had remembered her being interviewed on it and that's how I knew about her high density issue, but figured its also be in the minutes.

Sorry for bring a "—", as you put it in your private message.

You are being one. haha

She said lots of things about the development, many of which are totally fair criticisms, so it's kind of unfair to simplify her comments to it just being "too dense":

Quote:
"She then listed issues ranging from traffic, sidewalks, emergency access to the cul-de-sac, access to laneways linking area schools and a mess left by the contractor."
I said:

Quote:
"Re Sheilagh's comments. I don't recall her saying it was too dense. I recall her saying it was sloppy and poorly thought out. Which isn't completely false."
I really don't want to fight with you. I also don't want O'Leary's words to be taken out of context.

Maybe you should have known what she said in the first place, before saying I took her words out of context.

I've discovered a new photo problem. Almost all of my pictures lately have been far too blurry because of waves of heat.

^ So, Confederation Building will finally have the front finished by this, or next, year.

What is the small one story building under construction on the left in the last photo?

It's an assisted living home for people who use wheelchairs, if I remember correctly.

That's the only way a one story makes sense, but we do have elevators nowadays upalong.
They could have added a couple of floors for people who don't need wheelchairs.
