Rob Ford's now former chief of staff is now saying that he was fired. No article yet on CBC but it is showing on the headline scrollbar.

I'm guessing that they disagreed on how Ford's been handling the allegations. Never too late to distance yourself from this trainwreck.

The Ford part of your alias is showing.

Rob Ford makes our city mayors in Northern Ontario seem sophisticated and caring. I agree that he has an entertaining aspect to him as he often can't keep his cool.

Someone just donated $10,000 to the crackstarter campaign - it's at $155,000 now.

Also Mark Towney was fired by his own admission, at least more or less. Metroman on urbantoronto (who seems to have an in on city hall) reports it is because he gave Ford an ultimatum which he refused.

From urbantoronto forums:

Gawker is reporting they've lost contact with the sellers of the video. I'd hate to think the Fords ahve quietly bought it and it will never see the light of day.

I wanted to see it, too.

Unfortunately there is too much media attention on this and these guys are running scared. If someone hands them a suitcase of money, they would sell the video. But anything "official" will identify them, and obviously that's the last thing "somali drug dealers" want. These guys are thinking about themselves, and there is too much light shining on them already.

Either that, or it was all a bunch of baloney to begin with. We may never know for sure.

I highly doubt that two young reporters would jeopardize their entire future career on something that never existed. That makes very little sense. And a third party that has nothing to gain from Rob Ford's demise.

It's being reported by pretty much every news outlet (including the Ford ally Toronto Sun) that Ford's chief of staff was urging him to "deal with his issues", aka rehab. Which was the reason he was fired.

God Ford is a tool, how did he get elected again? I don't think I've seen a Mayor get this much media attention outside a natural disaster or terrorist attack lol.

Yes, it's left-wing a conspiracy. That's the simplest explanation.

Yes, because that's clearly what I said and what I obviously believe.

I am just skeptical of this third-hand information about a video that only a couple of people supposedly got a glimpse of.

It makes sense if they were mistaken - maybe they saw a video, but it was crappy quality? The press is mistaken all the time these days, just so they can get "breaking" news out - they can just retract whatever they say.

Maybe it was for his drinking?

I'm not even giving Ford the benefit of the doubt. I think he's a complete tool bag. I just think everything about this story sounds weak.

Often when a Chief of Staff leaves (fired or quits) it means the leader he/she is working for is in trouble. Stephen Harper's just resigned although he was actually let go by the PM.

One thing I find very strange about both Ford and Harper is their refusal to speak about any problems as if ignoring them will make everything go away. They are both doing major damage to their images.

I've predicted that Harper will step down in 2014 or 2015. But enough about him.

If the crack video does get released and was real then Ford will likely step down as soon as it becomes publicly available. The only thing that I can think of that could be good for his case is that he was somehow set up (framed) for the video. Maybe an organized crime gang did something for an attempt at extortion. But that's just a very remote possibility.

Ford got elected because he just played on peoples' angers. There are a lot of far left leaning councillors who went too far with things that made him popular at the time to balance things out a bit.

Personally, I would never vote for him.

Im not going to speculate. Im going to assume that this is all a hoax until something happens. Why would a family man and football coach hang out with crackies and do crack? It makes no sense at all.

I call bullshit. The man is an asshole, but not a crackhead.

This would be like me leading my 9 -5 job life as an architect and then going home to do crack and hang out with criminals.....like seriously...c'mon.
