That's just the slab though. Ventilation, water pipes and electrical will take up some space.

Edit: Just noticed how small those guard rails are. I got a better scaled perspective now... That is a pretty high ceiling indeed

IMO Mississauga's skyline is bigger and denser than all of the downtown skylines in the US except for :

Boston
Chicago
Philly
Seattle

A lot of people in Mississauga seem to have a rather inflated perception of its place in the world. Mississauga is an impressive suburb attempting to morph into a proper city. Absolute Towers is really the first time that city has built something of consequence. I do like their fascist city hall quite a bit though. You almost expect to run into Mussolini in the hallway.

From my experience (I grew up in Mississauga, spent 10 years of my life there), most people in Mississauga have a pretty self-deprecating view of the suburb. Most of the young people in Mississauga want to go to Toronto and experience a more authentic urban lifestyle.

I didn't read every post in this thread, but I'm not even sure that the person asserting that Mississauga has one of the best skylines after 5-10 U.S. cities is from Mississauga. If that person is from Mississauga, rest assured that most Mississaugans do not share such a delusional opinion about Mississauga's skyline.

That said, Mississauga is making strides in the right direction with respect to developing a core that has some aspects of urbanity. It will take many years, and many, many more buildings, before it can compete with the numerous mid-size cities of North America in terms of skyline and urbanity.

Granted, this is a skyscraper thread so we do get lots of people who judge a city's merits purely on how tall their buildings are. Young people invariably are drawn to the excitement and lights of downtown, but they don't represent the majority.

Mississauga is moving in the right direction, but I think people will find a great deal of resistance to many attempts to urbanize and pedestrianize the place. Most people chose to live in Mississauga precisely because it was a suburb. I hope I'm wrong, but it's not going to be an easy sale there.

I explored the city on bike yesterday. It's sort of a spring ritual for me each year to assess in person how the city has changed over the winter months. I have to say that Southcore is looking very good despite my habitual criticism of the mono architecture.

The view of the rail shed from outside the ACC is quite amazing and the aquarium is turning out well. It's the perfect attraction for the base of the CN Tower and will help increase visits to all the surrounding attractions. That whole area is turning into a very compelling place for tourists and locals alike.
