Sorry I didn't make the last get together folks - work has just been crazy! Have a visitor coming from Denver so I'm going to try to show him the Canadian rockies while he's here! I just hope the weather improves.

Does anyone have any more info on the possible new gay establishment in Calgary? I went to Hot Mess for the first time this weekend and it was awesome. I would love a place like that to be open every weekend

I'm pretty sure hot mess is like a club, if you want that then try Twisted, that's the last thing we need more of here, we've lost all the good places and now we're just left with the worst club in the country and the Back Lot(which is okay, could be better though). The rumoured new one is apparently a lounge-type bar on 17th I believe.

Nope; and missed the Jasper gay ski weekend by one week as well. Though was awesome seeing small town Alberta all bedazzled in pride flags and a few pubs like Whistlestop advertising gay events. Most hilarious part of the weekend was when had a black guy trying to do his elevator pitch on the restaurant's chocolate eruption cake which he ended up calling chocolate erection cake.

Awwwe that's too bad. Well, at Edmonton Pride my boyfriend and I are going to be advertising (talking to people about) the gay rugby team we are trying to set up for next year. If anyone on here would be interested in joining, let me know!

I'm excited for Edmonton though, it'll be the first Pride I've been to since I was 17 in Toronto.

Cool idea! As in 2013 or 2014 and are you looking at Calgary or Edmonton to set up the rugby team? I'm on a dragonboat team, but may be interested in picking up another sport if it's in a central location. I'd *like* to start up a downtown running club but none of my gay friends run. It seems so many gay teams fail to have team-chemistry because some are there only for social aspect and then there are others that are semi-competitive.

Have you tried running with Calgary Frontrunners? I've never been personally, but had a couple of friends run with them ages ago and they enjoyed it.

It'll be for 2014. The 2013 season has already started. Colin would be the couch and probably the captain. Games would be at the Rugby Union facility in the SE but I think practice can be on pretty much any public field. A running club would be cool, Colin and I might be interested in that, we both run. But he plays a lot of sports already and works evenings/nights during the week, and I work till 7 pm on weekdays... so that might be tough to commit to. But I'll see what he says.

I think only Toronto and Montreal have gay teams now. Vancouver used to (I think?) but I'm pretty sure not anymore.

about another meet up, I'm not sure. I'd definitely be down if others are.
