No. There will be more details when the Museum is complete next April. As well the City is finally studying what to do with Parcel 4 (the waterpark parcel).

It will definitely involve a large parkade structure and likely a retail and residential component.

That's great and all, but this isn't the place for this kind of discussion.

Exactly the demographic I'm referring to as well. It is limited, yes, but you need to start somewhere. Its still way too easy and affordable to get a 'family' house in this city, so I wouldn't expect families for a long time. However, the list you put out there as well as investors looking for condos they can rent out to whomever, students sharing a place... imagine 2 students renting one of those condos, sharing the expenses, enjoying the amenities, why not? Thats how I started off... and it sure is nice to split all those 'other' bills (hydro, internet, phone) down the middle. Well maybe not phone anymore... who has a landline???

Don't forget about the numerous residential developments and commercial projects that are renovating buildings in the East and West Exchange.

If I was a 20-something single guy looking to rent I would be all over this place.

There was an open house in 2010 unveiling a concept for a potential mixed use development for the parking lot across from CMHR at the Forks.

Haven't heard much about it since, other than a few whispers here and there.

Pretty sure that exact rendering was originally provided by trueviking. He first wrote about it here, a short while after the article you reference:

Those prices accompanied by condo fee's make no sense in this market as a rental property, do the math.

If you're living in a mansion! My taxes are about 2,500. Then minus the school tax credit or however that works. I pay under 2G a year. I could see at the high end the 7G or 8G for a million dollar house. Maybe I'm wrong.

You can build equity without buying a house -- some would say you would be better suited to build equity if you continue renting because you can keep your portfolio more diverse.

You do know you pay property taxes on a condo right? Sometimes the property taxes on a condo even exceed those of a house with the same square footage as well.

City of Winnipeg property taxes are based on assessed value. If they sell all the condos in the building for $300k+ then you can be sure the assessed value will be $300k+. That would be somewhere in the range of $3500 (including school taxes) provided it's owner occupied.

You're living in dreamland. There are condos on waterfront where the taxes exceed 5 grand a year. Thats on top of the $500 plus monthly condo fees.

Just to add to all the people questioning this - where did you possibly get that idea?

My downtown condo (a basic, lower end one) has taxes greater than $2500, for example.
