The row houses concept would have been much nicer. But this isn't as bad as I thought.

I like the parking garage colours a lot, they look great from up close too. My worry is that as the colour is being revealed, the oft-stated concern about the western wall is becoming more and more obvious: it looks dull and monolithic.

How has there not been a proper effort to fix the Harbour Station roof problem? Maybe painting the roof a dark grey??
It is a pretty hideous arena in the first place, a bit outdated and could use a facelift, change the facade etc

Seriously?

It's a gorgeous arena, is nowhere near being outdated, and doesn't need any changes either inside or outside. Yeah, the roof gets dirty, but perhaps that says something about the air quality in Saint John.

I personally love Harbour Station's postmodern architectural style

I have a hard time believing the dirt is entirely from the air. Perhaps I was a bit harsh on the station, lol I like the interior, the layout, but the exterior could use a bit of a facelift. I'd be happy if they simply gave the roof a new colour paint to hide the dirt.

I wonder if the building has the potential for expansion or when the city needs a bigger arena they will expand it or build a Harbour Station II lol
Any new arena in the future should keep the name. It is such an original name for an arena.

Can't really paint that as it's a rubber type membrane, it would have to be replaced with a different color one.
Not sure who decided on light blue in the first place, thank god it wasn't white

I am not sure about the roof! But they could pressure wash the sides where the black is streaking down.

I would say the chance of a new arena or expansion are next to zero. Most event are not sold out with what we have now!

Maybe first prize should be a summer job for someone to put up the new signs.

I was under the impression it was just one of those standard get the public involved things. Never crossed my mind it had to do with staffing cuts but it's a possibility.

Your right, it does do well on many many events being sold out.

Harbour Station can be expanded. The luxury boxes are temporary and could be replaced with an additional 2500 seats to bring capacity close to 10,000. I don't think we would see a need for anything larger than that in the lifetime of the building.

It would be great to see Harbour Station expanded like that sometime down the road.

I can't really see that happening anymore, most arenas built in the last decade have actually increased the proportion of luxury boxes because they are excellent corporate sales drivers and diversify ticket sales. It'd be an interesting study to look at whether the additional seat sales potential would outweigh the potential revenue of luxury boxes.

Your first inclination was correct, it has everything to do with engaging the public and nothing to do with staffing. The contest is just for the logo of the route to put on the signs, not the signage itself, the group responsible is simply trying to increase community by-in on what is essentially our first complete door A to door B active transportation link.
