There was a notice in our building that the window replacement work itself will commence this week. I am not sure how the rain will be affecting the schedule, but I can hear noise from the roof even as I write and it is raining pretty heavily at the moment.

New window elements have already been seen at the building's loading bay and with quick view they look good. Let's see when they start going up.

Works seems to be starting on that building on Denman across from the mall. Also there is a rendering up at the site of the former gas station a block over

First window elements of the One Wall Center are being replaced as we speak on the 48th floor. Work on that floor is expected to take this and next week. Soon we will start to see what color the new glass is.

Here in few floors below we are waiting for our turn.

Wouldnt the colour of glass get approved by the city? Therefore would there not be info on it somewhere? Then we wouldn't have to wait. Although I guess it doesn't matter at this point lol

The new glass is approved and going to be similar mirror glass as in the first 30 floors of the building. The problem was that the original manufacturer has gone out of business since then, so the new glass won't be exactly the same tone as the new one. It should be a very close match and I hope the end result is completely unnoticable, but we don't know that yet.

I will post photos in few weeks once they are working on our floor.

And yet despite the ugly clear glass, this building won some award back in 2001 because some people were too cheap to fly out of Vancouver to cities with more deserving and architectually stunning *true* skyscrapers....

I'm glad this eyesore is finally being fixed....

"Some award", are you kidding? First place in the 2001 Emporis Skyscraper Award as best new skyscraper of the year is a very glorious club to be in.

Been thinking about the benefits to curved towers and it seems as though there is significant increase in potential sun accumulation. With the curve, an increase in the number of units that experience direct sunlight would occur. Am i wrong to assume this? From a practical perspective, it only makes sense to have curved walls on towers. Although from the inside, curved walls could pose decorating concerns, as has been mentioned.

Welcome to the Forum.

The biggest benefit of the curved walls for occupants that I see is opening up views to a wider angle across the face of the building (which as you mention, ould have the consequence of letting in ore light from those angles). It also preserves view from neighbouring buildings as well.

Curved towers are a product of designing a building from the "exterior" in order to give it architectural presence, there is no benefit to the interior living space, as a box is the highest and best use.
